LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Alison Holker Boss is celebrating her daughter's birthday. The 'So You Think Can Dance' alum took to Instagram with a sweet post sharing a series of pictures. This celebration holds significance as it marks Weslie's first birthday since her father Stephen 'tWitch' Boss' death.
"Happy Birthday WESLIE! I am so proud of the beautiful woman that you are," Holker Boss captioned the photos on Instagram. "I always say you are my wise owl, you have a stunning old soul that has a beautiful grasp of life and the world."
'I love you babygirl'
Holker Boss continued, "You are making an impact in this world by just expressing who you are and what you believe in. I am honored to be at your side during your journey. I love you baby girl @weslierboss ... happy 15!!"
'I call him Stephen, you call him Stephen and tWitch, and we love him for being both'
In their first public appearance since Stephen tWitch Boss's death, Holker Boss and Weslie were honored with the Heart of a Champion Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness Westside Los Angeles last month. Stephen died by suicide in December at age 40. He had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. At the NAMI WLA's annual Mental Health Gala, Holker in her speech said, "Thank you Derek [Hough] and Jenna [Dewan] for coming out and helping to present this award for our family and our beloved Stephen. I call him Stephen, you call him Stephen and tWitch, and we love him for being both."
Since tWitch Boss's death, Holker Boss has paid homages to her husband in various touching tributes. In one of the videos shared on February 18, "It has been very challenging and emotional. But you guys have brought so much hope and inspiration to us by sharing stories and memories and moments and different ways that Stephen impacted your life." tWitch boss was a DJ on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' and a dancer who grabbed the second position on the fourth season of 'So You Think You Can Dance' in 2008.
In February, Weslie returned to TikTok after two months and posted a video that showed her holding her phone with Stephen “I know we try, And the days, they go by, Until we get old, There’s water in the flowers, let’s grow." Weslie captioned the video. “I miss u," she added.
"I'm trying to teach them — and myself — that if you're angry or sad, it doesn't mean you're a bad person," she said. "We're coping together, and that requires trust and being really vulnerable," Holker Boss told People in May. "We lean on each other a lot for support because every single day is a new emotion. And honestly, not even day by day. It's moment by moment. You never know when something is going to trigger a memory or thought and make you go into your head a little bit, so we make sure to communicate that with each other," she said before adding "We want to be okay — and we are okay — but it's taking a lot of work together."
