The Chicago Sky are in a massive slump, losing six straight games to fall to 5-9 on the season heading into their home matchup on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Sparks.
The Sky have been without a few key players Isabelle Harrison and Rebekah Gardner, and they've gone just 2-8 over their last 10 games. Los Angeles (7-7) is starting to turn things around with back-to-back wins, even though the team is down third-leading scorer Lexie Brown to an illness.
With those two straight wins, Los Angeles has jumped to second in the Western Conference and No. 5 in the league in net rating.
Can Nneka Ogwumike (20.2 points, 9.7 rebounds per game) and company hand the Sky a seventh straight loss?
Here are the odds and my best bet for this contest:
Sparks vs. Sky odds, spread and total
Sparks vs. Sky prediction and pick
The Sky have really struggled on offense this season, ranking 10th in the league in offensive rating ahead of this matchup.
The team has gotten solid production from Marina Mabry and Kahleah Copper, but Courtney Williams is off to a slow start, shooting 33.9 percent from the field through 14 games.
Chicago also ranks 10th in the league in turnover percentage, so it isn't doing itself any favors when it has the ball.
As for the Sparks, they have looked great against anyone not-named the Minnesota Lynx. The Sparks are 0-3 against Minnesota but 7-4 against everyone else, easily handling the Dallas Wings in a 10-point win on Sunday.
Even without Brown, the team has one of the best players in the league in Ogwumike, and the Sparks rank fourth in the WNBA in defensive rating.
With Chicago on a lengthy losing streak, I love getting 2.5 points with Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
