LOS ANGELES. CALIFORNIA: Drake name-dropped Taylor Swift in his latest surprise EP ‘Scary Hours 3’.

As the Canadian singer dropped the sequel to 2018’s ‘Scary Hours’ and 2021’s ‘Scary Hours 2’ on Friday, November 17, he gave a shoutout to the megastar Taylor Swift.

Drake praised Swift while referring to the record of his sales in the first track of the album ‘Red Button’.

In the song, he sings, “Taylor Swift the only n**** that I ever rated/ Only one that could make me drop the album just a little later.”

The song continues, “Rest of ya’ll, I treat ya’ll like you never made it/ Leave your label devastated/ Even when you pad the stats, period, I never hated.”

‘Scary Hours 3’ dropped just six weeks after Drake released his studio album ‘For All The Dogs', per NME.

Drake and Taylor Swift, who have reportedly been friends for over a decade, are yet to collaborate with each other for an album.

'Drake riding the Taylor Swift hype now'

Drake's name-drop of Taylor Swift made him an instant hit with the Swifties, who hailed his move.

While fans had mixed feelings, they concurred by saying, "At least he knows he can’t compete with her!"

Someone else said, "I know it’s not a diss but why does drake always feel the need to name drop females or even bring up females every time he releases an album."

"Drake riding the Taylor Swift hype now," commented a fan.

"Taylor swift is what pushes this musicians to do better," said another.

A fan quipped, "Even drake knows not to mess with taylor swift loll."

"Glad to know he knows her impact…he’ll never compete!" remarked another.

Someone else referred to Adele and said, "Notice how he isn’t threatened by Adele."

Another fan cheered the move to say, "Man gave us the best version of himself 🔥💥."

Drake mentions Kanye West in 'Red Button'

Taylor Swift is not the only star who gets a special mention in Drake's 'Red Button'. In the song, the 'God's Plan' singer also referred to his infamous feud with Kanye West, who now goes by the name Ye.

Drake sings later in the song, “Every time that Yeezy call the truce/ He had my head inflated/ Thinking we going to finally peace it up and get to levitating/ Realized that everything premeditated.”

Drake's surprise album announcement

On Wednesday, November 15, the 'One Dance' singer shared that he would be dropping the album on November 17 midnight.

In the trailer, he could be seen saying, “I’ll say this to you I’m not… I feel no need to appease anybody. I feel so confident about the body of work I just dropped that I know I can go and disappear for whatever… six months, a year… two years."

He continued, “Though I’m not into the lengthy, super-lengthy disappearances just for the sake of mystery,” before adding, “You know, ultimately it’s coming to me in a way that I haven’t experienced since [2015’s] If You’re Reading This [It’s Too Late] where it’s just kind of like I feel like I’m on drugs.”

In the video, he shared with conviction, “I feel like I’m in that mental state without doing anything. Who am I to fight it?” per Billboard.
