LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nicolas Cage and his ex-partner Christina Fulton are experiencing a distressing situation, unable to see their three-year-old twin granddaughters due to an ongoing and challenging conflict with their former daughter-in-law, Hila Arounian.
Lawsuits accuse Hila Arounian of crafting hostile narrative and environment
Arounian, previously married to Weston Coppola Cage, the son of the former couple, is facing legal action from both Weston and Christina, who are suing her for defamation.
They allege that she embezzled $100,000 and secured a "fraudulent restraining order," which subsequently prevented Christina and her family from having access to Weston's daughters.
According to reports from Page Six, the lawsuits claim that Arounian has crafted a hostile narrative and environment, creating circumstances that render it impossible for the family to privately or publicly see or maintain a relationship with the children.
They also claim that she has a disturbing pattern of behavior of making false and malicious allegations against people for her own gain.
The emotional toll on Nicolas Cage's family
In an interview with the Sun, 56-year-old Christina expressed that while she has a wonderful relationship with her grandsons, who are Weston's sons, the inability to meet the twins has been a source of pain, hurt, and surprise.
She said that she and Nicolas, 58, have not seen the girls since they were born.
“It is devastating not to see these kids. Nicolas and I haven’t been able to meet our two beautiful little granddaughters at all since they were born. We’re in a quiet, horrible nightmare. It’s insane, painful, hurtful, devastating,” she said.
She also alleged that Arounian was emotionally abusive and manipulated Weston into isolating himself from his family.
She mentioned that Arounian exploited Weston, who is 32 years old, during a period when he was recovering from mental health issues.
Weston Coppola's divorce and custody dispute with Hila Arounian unfolded after their marriage in 2018. The couple, Weston (32) and Arounian (40), welcomed daughters Cyress and Venice during the pandemic but separated shortly thereafter.
In 2020, Weston filed for divorce and accused Arounian of disseminating "malicious lies" as a form of "retaliation" against his divorce filing.
Additionally, he is seeking custody of their daughters in the legal proceedings.
“I have been a target of defamation for my entire life. I’ve stayed quiet but now that I am facing the worst traducement and defamation yet I will be taking immense and aggressive action,” Weston told the publication.
Weston is also a father to Lucian and Sorin from his previous marriages. He is the son of Nicolas and Christina, who dated in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Nicolas is currently married to his fifth wife Riko Shibata.
