The Warriors already landed Chris Paul but they'll need to land a few more steals in free agency to chase another title next season.
The Golden State Warriors are going into a very interesting offseason after losing in the second round of the playoffs. The team already made a major move in dumping Jordan Poole for Chris Paul to get off the player's contract.
One of the team's best players in the history of their franchise will end up being a free agent this season after the team failed to reach an extension. The team has clearly chosen the win-now timeline when they traded Poole but is it too little, too late for the Warriors?
Most important targets for the Warriors: 3. Andre Drummond
If Andre Drummond ends up declining his player option, the Warriors would be a perfect fit for the big man. He declined in play this season but he could fit with this team very well due to the fact that the team is looking for a rebounder and the team has a lot of spacing already.
The biggest weakness of Drummond's game is the fact that he is unable to score outside the paint. But the Warriors are missing a rebounder and it has been one of their biggest weaknesses for the last couple of years. He would be a bit costly but if they can find a number that makes it work he's a great backup option who can crash the glass and battle in the paint on certain matchups.
Most important targets for the Warriors: 2. Derrick Jones Jr
After declining his player option with the Bulls, Jones could be seen as a perfect target for the Warriors. Golden State needs versatile wings and signing Jones would help a lot. He would not be crazy expensive for a team that is gonna be bargain bin shopping for some of their rotation players.
Jones Jr. has a lot of athleticism and isn't a bad 3-point shooter. He might be able to get more on the open market but he might be able to take a bit of a discount for a chance to win a title. He should be able to play solid minutes for the Warriors while having a chance to win a title.
Jones isn't an elite defensive player but he's very solid at that end of the floor and he could help Andrew Wiggins and, potentially, Draymond Green defend the LeBron Jameses, and Kevin Durants of the world in the playoffs.
Most important targets for the Warriors: 1. Draymond Green
If the team wants to win next season, they have to re-sign Draymond Green this offseason. Green is a player who is declining in play but he is still a very key piece for the team. His stats might not show it but he is able to produce things on the court that are not seen on the box score.
His antics have gotten a lot worse in the last couple of years but he is still a key part of this locker room. If the Warriors do not keep Draymond Green this offseason, the team might lose Stephen Curry in a couple of years. The Warriors' two timelines are finally starting to collide and they may end up losing one of the best warriors of all time if they are unable to meet his requirements.
The buzz is that the Warriors will end up re-signing Draymond Green to a three-year max going forward. But there are plenty of other suitors and they can't take their eye off the ball until the deal is done with Draymond.
