NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Andy Cohen is leaking some 'Real Housewives' gossip. During an interview on SiriusXM's 'Howard Stern Show,' the 55-year-old Bravolebrity spilled some beans on 'Luann and Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake' star Sonja Morgan.
It's been a long trip for 'RHONY' fans, and they deserve something in return. Life as a Housewives fan hasn't been the same since getting the shocking news that the program will be revived with an all-new cast. Then, with the fantasy of 'RHONY Legacy' dangling in front of their faces, it was put on hold. Fans got their first glimpse at Season 14 of 'The Real Housewives of New York' last month. We also know 'RHONY: Legacy' has been shrunk into a yet-to-be-filmed variation of 'Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip'. So fans will just have to wait for their favorite 'RHONY' ladies to reunite. Sonja and Luann de Lesseps' impending spinoff, 'Welcome to Crappie Lake,' has whetted their appetites in the meantime.
'I mean, she's wild'
Andy spoke on Sirius XM's 'The Howard Stern Show' to talk about his new book, 'The Daddy Diaries'. He also explained why he dubbed Sonja from 'Welcome to Crappie Lake' the "most outrageous Housewife."
"I mean, she's wild," Andy described Sonja. Sonja's life at her townhouse was documented, including her funny "interns". Sonjarita was a sucker for a nice cocktail, guys, and sex. Even if the combination occasionally got her in trouble. "People always say, what are the Housewives like in real life? And I say, if you run into a Housewife in the wild, they will be exactly as they appear on the show," Andy remarked.
"I mean, you know, Ramona Singer lives in, I think, in your radius out east, and if you ever ran into her, Beth [Stern’s wife] would probably say ‘Wow!’”, he noted, adding, "It is how she is. You have been forewarned!"
Sonja has been blessed by the Bravo gods. She and Luann are starring in a spin-off named 'Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake'. The city-slicker duo will assist a tiny hamlet in its recovery from the plague. Andy is also a fan. "Guys, I’m not overselling this show, and I have nothing to do with it. I didn’t produce it, it wasn’t my idea. I watched it as a fan, just like you. It’s so funny," Andy said.
'I’m not overselling this show... it’s so funny'
Andy discusses 'RHONY' Season 14 and 'Ultimate Girls Trip' on his live Sirius XM show, Radio Andy. He then hinted that Sonja and Luann's upcoming initiative will shatter our minds. He begged his co-host to watch it and virtually foamed in the mouth when talking about Sonja and Luann. His enthusiasm for their program makes it difficult to believe they have kicked off Real Housewives in the first place.
The 'RHONY' spinoff follows both of them as they journey to Benton, Illinois, to swap their opulent New York lifestyle for a taste of poor, midwestern reality. The ladies will be assigned duties by the mayor to help tidy up the town and get everyone in the mood for Jovani, according to the show's synopsis.
'Luann and Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake' will premiere on Bravo on July 9 at 9 PM ET.
