'LPBW' fans split as Matt Roloff asks help for Natalia Grace who 'conned' her adoptive parents

PORTLAND, OREGON: Natalia Grace is an adult with dwarfism who purportedly pretended to be a child to her adoptive parents Michael Barnett and his wife Kristine. The documentary 'The Curious Case of Natalia Grace' by ID Discovery, which illuminates her peculiar tale, has been released. The shocking details of the 33-year-old have already prompted reactions from viewers of the docuseries.

The star of 'Little People, Big World,' Matt Roloff, recently urged viewers to support Natalia after sharing her GoFundMe profile on social media, which angered some online followers. The online fundraiser requested funds in the Instagram post in order to help with a "family vacation and a new van." Natalia, according to the LPBW star, "has the same type of rare dwarfism as me." He also mentioned that he was "very touched by the story."

The 61-year-old Roloff pleaded with his followers to "help her and her new family" while highlighting her "variant of Diastrophic dysplasia."

What is Diastrophic dysplasia?

As per MedLine Plus, diastrophic dysplasia is a rare hereditary condition of bone and cartilage formation that can cause "an onset of joint pain and deformity." Affected people are small in stature and have extremely short limbs and legs. The majority also have contractures, which are joint abnormalities that limit movement, early-onset osteoarthritis, and joint pain. Walking might be challenging due to these joint issues, which tend to get worse with age.

Diastrophic dysplasia shares many of the same signs and symptoms as atelosteogenesis type 2, a different skeletal condition, but is typically less severe. Despite some children with the condition having respiratory issues, "most people with diastrophic dysplasia live into adulthood."

'We're not giving a con artist money'

'LPBW' fans split after Roloff begged to send Natalia money. A user commented on his Instagram post, "I hope you got hacked. We're not giving a con artist money. And you have more than enough to cover the costs." Another fan wrote, "Matt, I think you're wrong about this Nathalia." "No way would I fund this scamming craziness, sorry." A user who supported him wrote, "If you were asking for a donation to a hospital where Natalia was to receive a much needed surgery I would be on board, but, there is too much we don’t know about this family." "No thanks, maybe if it was for something meaningful and really needed and not her," wrote another. One supporter penned, "I feel sad for her, in my opinion. Please share the link so people can donate. I’m sure she must have mental health issues, which is understandable considering the terrible childhood she endured. But I don’t think she’s evil or a sociopath."
