Just started on YouTube? Earning money just got easier for new creators.

If you're new to YouTube, monetizing your content is about to get both faster and easier. The company is allowing more creators to make money on the platform, lowering eligibility requirements to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP).

Under the new rules, creators who have reached 500 subscribers are eligible for the YPP — previously, this was only open to those with 1,000 subscribers or above. You also need to have uploaded at least three valid public videos in the last 90 days.

Public watch hours, the other criteria for the program, will lower from 4,000 to 3,000. Alternatively, if you've had 3 million public Shorts views, that counts.

The changed threshold will open up various tools for creators, including tipping tools, subscription tools, and access to YouTube shopping. The new rules will apply to creators in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea, later rolling out in other places where YPP exists.

Recently, TikTok made similar moves to increase the ways in which creators can make money through the app.
