In the blink of an eye, the Seattle Mariners have become one of the hottest teams in the bigs. Over the weekend, Seattle made a major statement by posting a three-game sweep over the Astros in Houston.
A major reason for that happening? Julio Rodriguez. J-Rod, the reigning AL Rookie of the Year, was on fire last week, taking home AL Player of the Week honors. No one else was more deserving of the award, as the second-year playmaker was nothing short of brilliant.
A batting average above .550, with two homers and 12 RBI? Of course Rodriguez was going to be the Player of the Week. Thus far this month, Seattle is 15-4 and they're now holding an AL Wild Card spot to their name.
Not only that, but the Mariners are only two games back of the Texas Rangers for first place in the AL West. It's not going to be easy for them to grab their first AL West title since 2001, but Rodriguez indeed has people dreaming of the campaign ending in memorable fashion.
