AUSTIN, TEXAS: Joe Rogan and Wesley Snipes' fight turned into an overly glamorized public spectacle back in 2005. As Rogan delivered his daily dosage of wisdom on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, the comedian talked about his potentially disastrous encounter with Snipes.
In his podcast, Joe Rogan discussed the historic dispute and attacked Snipes, who was charged with tax fraud. To pay off his debt and have it all, the ‘Blade’ actor challenged Rogan to a fight. Rogan was thrilled that he had persuaded Wesley Snipes to change his mind at the last minute.
'I was going to choke f**king life out of him'
The American actor was being looked into by the IRS at the time for alleged tax evasion. According to reports, Wesley Snipes owes the IRS a whopping $23.5 million.
And in 2005, Snipes issued a dueling challenge to UFC commentator Joe Rogan to fulfill that responsibility. If he prevailed, Snipes intended to use the money to settle his obligation, but for some reason, the actor unexpectedly changed his mind.
Rogan revealed his plans in case the event had ever occurred. “He realized I was going to choke the s**t out of him. [I’d] grab that guy and choke the f**king life out of him,” Rogan reportedly said.
What happened to Wesley Snipes?
Due to his failure to settle his obligation, the Hollywood star was charged with two accounts in 2006 and was sentenced to jail. The actor has since taken efforts to improve his status but has been unable to recapture the public's interest.
After being released from prison, Snipes tried to get back into the entertainment business, but it was already too late. Nobody wanted to work with Snipes again since rumors and wild speculations had already done so much harm.
Rumor spread that the actor allegedly tried to choke 'Blade: Trinity' director David S Goyer as well. Snipes adamantly denied the accusations, and they were never supported.
Presently, the actor is working on the upcoming show 'Paper Empire' and the film 'Back on the Strip'. With a projected release date of 2023, both projects are now in the post-production stage of development.
