WASHINGTON, DC: Proud Boys leader Joe Biggs, who was awarded 17 years of prison life, has reportedly been separated from his wife for years.

He was sentenced after being found guilty of seditious conspiracy for participating in the January 6 Capitol riots.

However, Biggs did not mention his wife’s name. As per a statement from the United States District Court - District of Columbia, he and his unidentified wife have not been living together for years.

What did Joe Biggs say while being sentenced?

On Thursday, August 31, Biggs broke down before Judge Timothy J Kelly while being sentenced. He said, as per NPR, “I know I have to be punished, but at least give me the opportunity to take my daughter to school one day."

He continued, “Please give me the chance, I beg you, to take my daughter to school and pick her up,” adding, “I’m not a terrorist… I’m one of the nicest people in the world.”

The former military service member also claimed that he went inside the government building in 2021 because he "was seduced by the crowd. Curiosity got the better of me and I will regret that for the rest of my life."

Biggs told the Daily Mail that "the entire time I was in there I felt bad, I didn't want to be there."

He added, "I didn't touch anything, I didn't break anything, I didn't steal anything. There was no ill intent other than I really needed a f*****g piss."

However, Biggs’ claims were dismissed by the judge as he announced his verdict.

Judge Kelly told him, “If you don’t like how an election is being conducted ..you can speak out, call, write, or meet with election officials. You can engage in peaceful protest. File a lawsuit.”

Where is Joe Biggs' wife?

The document released by the United States District Court - District of Columbia noted, “Biggs is married but has been separated from his wife for a period of four years.”

The paper also shared that Biggs shifted to Florida’s Daytona Beach from Austin, Texas, “to be near and care for his mother, a cancer patient."

Along with him, his one-year-old daughter also moved. “His daughter’s biological mother and Biggs’ estranged wife soon followed Biggs to Florida,” it noted.

“The two parents for some time now have shared custody of their daughter under an arrangement in which the child is physically with Biggs days during the workweek and with the child’s mother on the weekends,” the document added.
