HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA: Jimmy Kimmel playfully entertained the notion of far-right Rep Lauren Boebert, the representative of Colorado, stepping into the role of House Speaker, following the removal of Rep Kevin McCarthy, who represents California's 20th congressional district.

Kimmel, in a lighthearted manner, observed that while Reps Jim Jordan of Ohio and Steve Scalise (Louisiana) are considered leading candidates, the prospect of Boebert taking on the position adds a humorous twist to the political scenario.

Jimmy Kimmel jokes about Lauran Boebert being made House Speaker

At the end of the October 5 episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', Kimmel said, "It's unclear whether or not Republicans have enough votes to kick Gaetz out of their conference....but we do know the hunt for the next speaker is on."

"The leading candidates are Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise. I don't like either one of those guys," declared Kimmel.

Adding a humorous twist, Kimmel playfully suggested Boebert for the role of House speaker

He asked, "Why not Lauren Boebert as Speaker of the House?"

"I mean we saw at that Beetlejuice musical she does know how to reach across the aisle," he added, causing the crowd to burst into laughter.

He made a clever reference to her recent removal from a Denver theater due to disruptive behavior during a date.

Republicans search for options to replace Kevin McCarthy as Speaker

The unprecedented ousting of Rep Kevin McCarthy from his role as House speaker has paved the way for a subsequent election to fill the currently unoccupied seat in the GOP-controlled lower chamber.

As per CBS News, Speaker pro tempore Patrick McHenry, currently wielding the gavel on a temporary basis, revealed future plans during a meeting on October 3 with fellow GOP lawmakers.

He announced that the House Republican conference is scheduled to conduct a candidates' forum and make an attempt to elect a new speaker in the upcoming week.

As of the afternoon of October 4, two candidates have officially entered the race for the House speaker position.

One contender is Steve Scalise, currently holding the position of majority leader, making him the second-ranking Republican in the House.

He declared his candidacy for the speaker's office on the afternoon of October 4.

The second candidate is Jim Jordan, who serves as the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and the Weaponization of the Federal Government Select Subcommittee.

This subcommittee was established after Republicans gained control of the House in January.
