CINCINNATI, OHIO: YouTuber Darren "IShowSpeed" has responded to the announcement of Omegle, a well-known video-chatting service, shutting down.
On November 9, 2023, the streamer asked his viewers to pause for a minute of quiet over Omegle's shutdown. Described as "crazy," he reflected on his experience on the platform.
IShowSpeed reacts to Omegle getting shut down
During the livestream, he said, "RIP to Omegle, chat. RIP to Omegle, y'all. This is crazy. I remember being the young kid on this app and now, it's just gone, bro. Everybody in the chat, spam 'RIP to Omegle,' bro. I remember being a 14-year-old/13-year-old kid trolling women. Trolling girls. Trolling men. Trolling dogs. Trolling cats. Trolling every living thing and it's finally gone, bro."
IShowSpeed continued, saying he felt like crying after Omegle's closing.
"This s**t makes me want to cry, bro. Just out of memories that I had on this app, Omegle, bro. Just meeting random people, bro," he added.
IShowSpeed's top 3 Omegle moments
1. Ronaldo on Omegle
The list starts in May 2022, when IShowSpeed played a practical joke on Omegle by dressing up as a furry. But when he came onto a screen grab of Ronaldo, the joke took an unexpected turn. The streamer unintentionally demonstrated his typical enthusiastic response, thinking it was the real Ronaldo.
Interestingly, this episode happened in June 2023, before he had ever met Ronaldo. The video quickly went viral, receiving over 14 million views on his other YouTube channel.
2. Moxie Robot
In February 2023, IShowSpeed — who is well-known for taking risks in streams — exhibited his experimental side. The streamer unveiled the Moxie robot, an AI robot with interactive features akin to those of Alexa or Siri, during a live session on Omegle.
On Amazon, the robot is priced at around $1,000. It has sensors that can recognize the voices of people and react appropriately.
In a hilarious turn of events, the streamer and gullible viewers experienced moments of uncertainty and laughter as the robot, impersonating a stranger, interrupted their conversation and answered with its own words.
3. IShowSpeed cries on Omegle
The streamer's most humiliating and well-known incident occurred earlier in 2023 in August when he unintentionally showed out his privates during a live broadcast. A lot of people were really upset with this episode, and many of them mockingly called him "IShowMeat."
Later that month, IShowSpeed joined Omegle and ran across a fan who jokingly called him "IShowMeat," alluding to the previous event. This became a pattern.
The streamer became upset as the fan persisted in questioning him about the event. He was sobbing almost to tears as he fervently asked the fan to stop calling him that.
As previously said, the streamer regularly uses OmeTV, an alternate platform, in light of Omegle's impending collapse. Considering this, it doesn't seem probable that he will stop producing stuff of this kind in the future.
