Idaho murders: Internet remembers victims as University holds vigil in memory of slain students one year after massacre

MOSCOW, IDAHO: A vigil has been organized on Monday, November 13 to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the gruesome murders of four University of Idaho students that shook the nation.

On Thursday, November 9, the University of Idaho announced the vigil venue and said it would take place at 6 pm on November 13 on the UI administration lawn, per KMTV.

November 13 marks one year since the horrific murders that claimed the lives of the four UI students - Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves. The four students were found dead at a house on King Road in Moscow, Idaho.

Washington State University doctoral student Bryan Kohberger has been accused of the grisly murders after his DNA was found from the sheath of the knife used in the crime.

The vigil will be led by representatives of three Greek chapters

Representatives of three of the Greek chapters with which the victims were associated will speak at the vigil. The three Greek chapters are Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Chi and Alpha Phi.

Along with them, student body President Tanner McClain is also slated to speak at the vigil.

As per the UI news release, Idahoans associated with the UI are encouraged to keep their porch lights on from 6 to 7 pm PST in solidarity with the mourning students.

McClain said in the news release, “It is important that the students lead this effort toward healing,” before adding, “We want to ensure we continue to tell their stories, to honor their legacy and to provide a place where each student can heal. Together we are moving forward,” per Idaho Country Free Press.
