LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Drew Barrymore has some strict house rules for her children. We know how addictive electronic devices can be these days and to keep a check on the screen time, the talk show host had found a unique way.

“We watch a ton of movies and shows so I’m not judging anyone about screens,” Barrymore said in an interview with ‘Better Homes & Gardens.’ “But when it comes to my kids, I’m not a huge fan of personal electronics, like iPads.”

How does Drew Barrymore control her daughters' screen time?

“During the pandemic when schools were virtual we were forced into all being on our separate devices and I didn’t like it,” the 48-year-old star added.

“Now, I keep the iPads in a locked safe and they only come out for special occasions." Even though, the mother-of-two doesn’t mind ‘the group session, "I’d rather that the three of us all pile into my bed and watch together."

To those who are wondering, then how she keeps them entertained, well, here’s your answer, “I have a tattoo that says ‘home is where we are,’ and it’s true. Wherever I am with my girls I feel like I’m at home. Even if we’re just at a restaurant, I pour out the contents of my bag—my camera, my crossword puzzle, my lip balm, my book, a deck of cards—and we’re right at home.”

'Although we might not be married anymore...'

Barrymore also talked about what kind of changes she had made in her home after becoming a mother. “I can’t bear to see a sharp edge in my space. I look at it and think, that corner could take out somebody’s eyeball! Even my kitchen island has a soft edge,” she said about the design. “The minute I walked into that room for the first time I said, we need to sand that right down!" she added.

Drew Barrymore shares her two daughters Olive, 10, and nine-year-old Frankie, with ex-husband Will Kopelman. Earlier, she talked about ‘co-parenting’ and said, “Although we might not be married anymore, and he’s even married with his beautiful new wife Allie [Michler], our wonderful stepmother, we’re in a daily engagement and our relationship has never been better."

"We should champion our exes, and you don’t have to be best friends, especially if they have a new person in their life," she further added.
