LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Good Morning America’ is one of the most popular TV shows in the US and viewers love to start their day with their favorite news broadcasters giving them information about what’s happening in the nation. However, ardent fans of the show received a “not-so-pleasant” surprise when host George Stephanopoulos didn’t make an appearance in the latest episode of the morning show due to a massive family milestone.
According to the photos shared on his official Instagram, Stephanopoulos was absent from the show due to a major milestone celebration for one of his daughters over the weekend, and it seems he is still enjoying the festivities rather than being on the show's set. On Monday, May 29, 2023, viewers saw Michael Strahan taking the seat with co-hosts Linsey Davis and Mary Bruce, filling in for him and Robin Roberts, respectively, on the morning show. With it being Memorial Day, most of the typical fill-in hosts were also taking time off, paving way for a few new faces on the show.

'GMA' viewers surprised by two new faces
Davis has been filling in recently, but Bruce is rarely seen on the morning show and works as the Senior White House Correspondent at ABC News. Stephanopoulos and Roberts are two of ‘GMA’s most recognizable faces and although their absence didn’t hugely impact the show’s overall quality, it certainly surprised viewers when they tuned in to see the new co-hosts taking the seat. As of now, it is unclear when both Stephanopoulos and Roberts will return to their regular hosting duties.
Stephanopoulos celebrated a massive family milestone
However, one thing that is clear is Stephanopoulos is a "proud dad". The veteran news broadcaster attended the graduation of his youngest child over the weekend and looked really happy in the photos that were shared on the photo-sharing platform. His daughter Harper, 17, graduated from high school on Saturday, May 27, and Stephanopoulos made sure that he was there with his child to celebrate such a massive family milestone.
The news presenter shared a photo on his official Instagram and captioned it, “Happy Graduation Day to my youngest.” The first photo saw the father and the daughter posing for a picture while standing on the streets of New York City. Meanwhile, the second picture saw Stephanopoulos hugging his daughter while kissing her forehead.
Now that the Memorial Day weekend is over and people are heading back to their respective jobs, we hope to see Stephanopoulos and Roberts hosting the morning show again really soon.
