I have been placed on death watch by the media – Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers
I have been placed on death watch by the media – Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers
Brendan Rodgers spoke about being under intense media pressure going into Celtic’s impressive 1-0 cinch Premiership win over Rangers at Ibrox. The Hoops went into the game on the back of a loss to Kilmarnock in the Viaplay Cup and a home draw to St Johnstone and with some key players missing, but Kyogo Furuhashi’s late first-half strike stretched their lead over Rangers to four points after four games. After the game, Rodgers said: “I understand I have been placed on death watch by the media. “But whatever the result today I’m an experienced manager now and I’m staying calm. “But that’s where you are powerless as a coach. “For me I understand what we have, I understand what we are missing. “Until we get the level of player back that will make a difference in some of our games we have to keep working and developing and improving and I have absolutely no doubt we will do that as the season grows. “But listen, it’s three wins and a draw in the league and some of the games have been good, but we are still piecing together a team which will look a lot more like it by the end of the season.” Rangers were aggrieved at a VAR decision that went against them in the first half. Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke was challenged by Cyriel Dessers just inside the Hoops half and the Gers attacker raced clear and squared the ball for Kemar Roofe, who took a touch before firing past Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart. When referee Don Robertson checked the pitchside monitor at the behest of the VAR, he ruled the goal out for a foul on the Hoops defender, albeit it looked soft. Rodgers said: “Listen, there is enough people looking at it now. As I said to Gus at half-time, ‘you’ve got to learn your lesson there’. “You’ve got to get the passing going quicker and he maybe needs another angle there quicker. But in saying that, as he turns around, he gets a nick. “If you are Michael (Beale) and Rangers supporters you are maybe aggrieved. But at that point of the game we were dominating. “So if we had conceded then I wouldn’t have been so happy. “But they had a good look at it for long enough, so we accept the decision.” Amid an ongoing ticket spat between the clubs there were no travelling supporters – Celtic rejected the offer of around 700 tickets, citing safety concerns – which irked Rodgers. He said: “It’s not the same game. It’s not the same game and it’s such a shame. “Look, it’s brilliant for us. Our resilience and everything we had to show as Celtic players was there today. As a group we had to withstand a lot, but it’s not the same game. “When there is not a single supporter there for you then you know you have to be a man. And for this group of players to come and do that and get the victory was absolutely brilliant. “Listen, I hope between the two clubs we can do that at some point. “It’s obviously going to be a challenge this year, so it’s another year. But it’s not the same games. “If you asked Rangers supporters, I’m pretty sure some of their best wins they have seen from their team were away at the other ground. “Hopefully we will get back to that. Whether it’s 7,000 or 8,000 or whatever, it’s an iconic game, an amazing game. “And a big part of it is the supporters. So hopefully in time we can get that back. “But for us today to come here with no supporters and win…hopefully wherever they are, Celtic supporters across the world will be proud of their team.” Read More Charity boss speaks out over ‘traumatic’ encounter with royal aide Ukraine war’s heaviest fight rages in east - follow live Prop, scrum-half and full-back – the World Cup selection dilemmas facing England Wales centre Mason Grady has tough family act to follow at first Rugby World Cup Tributes paid to former Zimbabwe captain Heath Streak after his death aged 49

The MrBeast and Rosanna Pansino controversy explained as YouTuber is accused of 'faking videos'
The MrBeast and Rosanna Pansino controversy explained as YouTuber is accused of 'faking videos'
Another day, another beef in the world of online content creation – and this time, it’s between MrBeast and Rosanna Pansino. While it’s normally the likes of Logan Paul or more recently SSSniperWolf and JacksFilms sparking drama, this time MrBeast and Rosanna Pansino are the ones causing all the fuss. So what’s it all about? MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, is the biggest name on YouTube with 204 million subscribers. Pansino is a big name too, with more than 14.5 million subscribers herself. However, she’s accusing him of lying about the outcome of a recent viral challenge. Pansino competed in one of the three hide-and-seek challenges hosted by MrBeast in Creator Games 3. Pansino is now accusing MrBeast of manipulating the edit to present a version of events which didn’t really happen and effectively reducing her role in the clip. Extreme $1,000,000 Hide And Seek www.youtube.com The YouTuber posted a message on Twitter/X with the caption: “I have been allowing others to treat me poorly in private for many years and I’m fed up. “I am going to start standing up for myself and finding my voice.” The content creator wrote: “When the video was released I was shocked, disappointed, and felt hurt. MrBeast (Jimmy) had edited the video to make me look like I performed worse than I did,” Pansino said. “This was extra upsetting because I genuinely believed him when he said that his videos are ‘authentic and real’.” Pansino also disputed the top three shown in the video, which were Zach King, Logan Paula and Larray. “The final [three] people were actually Zach, Quackity, and myself,” Pansino said. “This is what actually happened. Despite Jimmy editing out the only female in the top [three], I was proud of what I achieved.” Pansino doesn't appear to be backing down either as she has now released a series of DM's which she claims were from Donaldson who was asking her to ring him. In the leaked messages Donaldson appeared to ask Pansino to call him to "figure out what happened." She explained that she had no intention of causing drama but was "really hurt by the editing decisions." She added: "Editing me out of the top 3 and making me look like I performed worse than I did felt awful. Quackity was also edited out of the top 3 and he also talked about it." Donaldson replied: "Obviously I wasn’t trying to make you look bad! Just give me a time we can chat, I’m not mad or anything. Just want to help." Pansino added: "I’ll give you some time to look into it and remember and then we can discuss. I’m more than happy to review all the raw footage to help show the timeline of events. Feel free to send it over to my team. Let me know.” She has also claimed that when she asked Donaldson for 'raw footage' he went 'radio silent' on her. Frank Lampard will be ‘back at Chelsea many times’ as a fan after interim role
Frank Lampard will be ‘back at Chelsea many times’ as a fan after interim role
Frank Lampard promised he would be back at Chelsea as a supporter after his tenure as interim manager ends on Sunday. His side host Newcastle looking to give Lampard the first home win of his second spell in charge, and help the club’s record goalscorer sign off on a relative high after losing eight of his 10 games. The former midfielder, who won three Premier League titles and the Champions League during his 13 years as a player in west London, did not return to Stamford Bridge after he was sacked as manager in January 2021 until April of this year to witness the team’s goalless draw against Liverpool. That came two days after ex-boss Graham Potter was sacked 31 games into a five-year contract, and within days Lampard had been installed as temporary boss while the club searched for a permanent successor. The 44-year-old insisted that it was only circumstances that had kept him away – the period coincided with the Covid-19 pandemic and his 12 months spent managing Everton – and that his visit for the Liverpool game, which he watched from the box of co-owner Todd Boehly, had been planned for weeks. It was later reported that Lampard had been touted as a possible interim candidate by club officials several weeks earlier when Potter was seriously on the ropes after a run of poor results. The game against Newcastle will round off a campaign that cannot come soon enough for fans after enduring comfortably the team’s worst season in 30 years. Nevertheless, Lampard was hopeful of giving them something positive to take into the summer as he prepared to make his third exit from the club. “I don’t want this to sound corny but I don’t feel like it is a goodbye,” said Lampard. “I appreciate it, it will be end of season and end of my time back but normally when you leave a club you don’t have a hurrah as a manager. You are in one day out the next and that’s fine. “This is the corny part, I will never feel like I am saying goodbye to the fans. My career as a player and as a coach first time around and this period and it is there. “I live close enough to the stadium and I will be back at Chelsea many times and when you take on a managerial career it doesn’t mean you will be at a club you had 13 years at as a player forever. “I’m quite calm about it and not too nostalgic about it but certainly do appreciate the fans’ support on Sunday. More than anything I would love to give them a performance to take away for the summer and feel a bit more positive about for sure.” Lampard could again turn to Chelsea’s young prospects against Newcastle with a number of first-team players unavailable. Reece James, N’Golo Kante and Benoit Badiashile have all played their final game of the campaign while Lampard was doubtful whether Mason Mount will be fit to make what could be a farewell appearance at Stamford Bridge. Raheem Sterling is also a doubt after injuring a hamstring in the defeat to Manchester City. The loss of James has been a particular blow for Lampard during his brief stay, with the England defender having been the standout performer this season as the team has struggled. He was ruled out of the rest of the campaign after injuring a thigh in the Champions League home defeat to Real Madrid. “(Reece) came out (to train on Wednesday) and went back in but because he had a little bit of an awareness but we hope the scan will show there is no real damage,” said Lampard. “It was just a little reminder that it is a bit too early to be out.” Read More Charity boss speaks out over ‘traumatic’ encounter with royal aide Ukraine war’s heaviest fight rages in east - follow live Liverpool’s lack of final-day drama ‘completely new’ to boss Jurgen Klopp Ruben Selles urges Southampton to end wretched season on positive note England will keep embracing risks during Ashes despite ‘blip’ – Daryl Mitchell
