Pelosi says Trump looked like ‘a scared puppy’ during arraignment
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said that former president Donald Trump exuded no bravado or confidence as he appeared in Washington DC for his arraignment on federal charges this week. Ms Pelosi led the House of Representatives during both of Mr Trump’s impeachments, first for his attempt to condition aid to Ukraine on newly elected President Volodymyr Zelensky investigating Joe Biden’s son Hunter, and then in 2021 for his actions during the January 6 insurrection. Mr Trump appeared at the E Barrett Prettyman Courthouse on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to four charges stemming from his attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. During his arraignment, Mr Trump appeared to stumble over his words when asked to state his full name and appeared rather sombre compared to his other arraignments in New York and Miami. Ms Pelosi, who stepped aside from Democratic House leadership earlier this year after Republicans won the majority in the House of Representatives, told Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC that Mr Trump lacked the confidence and bravado usually associated with the ex-president. “I wasn’t in the courtroom, of course, but when I saw Trump coming out of his car and this or that, I saw a scared puppy,” Ms Pelosi said on Friday. “He looked very, very, very concerned about the fate. I didn't see any bravado or confidence or anything like that. He knows the truth, that he lost the election and now he has to face the music.” Ms Pelosi has largely avoided discussing the former president since he left office. During her farewell address as House speaker, she mentioned her work with former presidents George W Bush, a Republican, and Barack Obama, a Democrat, as well as President Joe Biden. But she did not mention Mr Trump. When the indictment was unsealed on Tuesday, Ms Pelosi credited the work of the January 6 select committee that commenced under her speakership for leading to the indictment. “Now, following the Justice Department’s further investigation, a federal grand jury has indicted the former President,” she said. “As this case proceeds through the courts, justice must be done according to the facts and the law.” Read More Trump pleads not guilty to federal conspiracy charges in plot to overturn 2020 election Trump appears to stumble over his name and age at arraignment

Olivia Rodrigo responds to rumour her song 'Vampire' is about Taylor Swift
Olivia Rodrigo has responded to rumours her song 'Vampire' is about her speculated feud with fellow pop star Taylor Swift. The 20-year-old musician addressed the fan theory that her first single off her sophomore album GUTS, was about the 'Anti-Hero' singer in a new interview with The Guardian. In the song, one line of the chorus goes: "bloodsucker, fame fucker, bleedin’ me dry like a goddamn vampire!” Many believe this to be a reference to Swift over their rumoured fallout over song credit where Rodrigo's song 'Deja Vu' had similarities to 'Cruel Summer.' Rodrigo noted the bridge was "inspired" by Swift's Lover album track and Olivia ended up giving Swift 50 per cent of the credits and royalties and similarly also gave credits and royalties to Paramore as her hit song 'Good 4 U' was compared to the band's popular track 'Misery Business.' When asked about this possible meaning for her song, Rodrigo shared her "surprise" at this interpretation. "I was very surprised when people thought that," she told The Guardian. "How do I answer this? I mean, I never want to say who any of my songs are about." “I’ve never done that before in my career and probably won’t.” She added: "I think it’s better to not pigeonhole a song to being about this one thing.” Here's how fans have been reacting to Rodrigo's comments, and opinions on the matter are mixed: On a similar topic, Roderigo how this experience from her Grammy Award-winning debut album SOUR wasn't something she wasn't over worried about when making GUTS. “I was so green as to how the music industry worked, the litigious side … I feel like now I know so much more about the industry and I just feel … better equipped in that regard. It wasn’t something I thought about too much," she explained. Rodrigo's new album GUTS is set to be released on September 8. Blind man kicked out of gym 'for staring at a woman'
A 21-year-old has recalled the mortifying time he was kicked out of a gym for "creepily" staring at a woman – despite being blind. Toby Addison, a psychology and counselling student who frequently posts on his TikTok @blindtobes, appeared on the 'Happy Hour Podcast' earlier this month. He explained the incident in which he was working out "minding his own business," when he heard a woman say: "Oh, do you like the view?" "Obviously I don’t really know where I’m looking a lot of the time," Toby shared on the podcast episode. "I was just staring right ahead and unfortunately there was a woman doing some exercises." Toby said he initially didn't know she was speaking to him as he "wasn't doing anything wrong." However, the woman reiterated: "'Why do you keep staring at me? Stop, don’t be so creepy.'" He told her he was blind, but she "wasn't having any of it." She allegedly went on to tell Toby to "'shut up'" before having the gym manager remove him from the facility. Russia-Ukraine war – live: Putin’s forces destroy first UK tank as Moscow ‘seeks weapons from Kim Jong-un’
Valdimir Putin’s forces have destroyed a British Challenger 2 tank for the first time since they were deployed to the battlefield in Ukraine. A video circulating online appears to show the burning wreck of the tank. It is unclear what caused the explosion. Britain initially supplied 14 Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine and then doubled that number to 28. Meanwhile, Kim Jong-un is planning to travel to meet Putin to discuss the possibility of providing weapons for Russia’s war in Ukraine, according to US intelligence. North Korea’s leader is planning to travel from Pyongyang later this month, likely by armoured train, to Vladivostok on the Pacific Coast of Russia where he would meet the Russian president, reported The New York Times. It is believed that while in Vladivostok, a port city not far from North Korea, the two leaders would discuss Kim sending Russia artillery shells and anti-tank missiles in exchange for more advanced technology relating to satellites and nuclear-powered submarines, according to US officials.
