Marcus Rashford has revealed how Wayne Rooney is willing him to break his Manchester United goalscoring record. Rooney tops the list of all-time scorers at Old Trafford with 253, but having recently signed a new five-year contract, 25-year-old Rashford looks in a good position to one day overhaul that tally. The 30 goals he scored last season, which was the most prolific campaign of his career, saw him move to 123 and more look set to follow with Erik ten Hag seemingly unlocking Rashford’s full potential. And Rashford says the man whose record he wants to take is cheering him on. Asked by Gary Neville on the Overlap, in partnership with Sky Bet, whether he can surpass Rooney’s record, he said: “Hopefully I will. “You never know what’s going to happen, but I’m all about scoring goals and trying to make assists. There’s definitely a chance that it can happen. “I’ve actually spoken to Wazza about it – he wants me to do it. “He said it would be good for me to do it as I’ve grown up at the club. Hopefully I get the opportunity to try and make it happen.” After such a prolific season last term, Rashford believes he could hit 40 goals if he can stay fit in the forthcoming season. “Before last season, I always said let’s get to 20 – for a winger a good benchmark,” he added. “But this season, I’ve hit 30 so we have to try and push it now and go above and beyond. “Towards the end of the season, I was struggling with a few injuries, and I probably wasn’t quite at it – that’s when the goals started to dry up a little bit. “If I can keep that side of it under taps, I feel like I can go on and get 35 or 40.” United look well placed to finally start challenging again under Ten Hag’s strict regime. Rashford felt the force of the disciplinarian last season when he was dropped from the starting XI for the game at Wolves after being late for a team meeting. The forward came off the bench to score the winner in a 1-0 victory, but revealed he was just one minute late. “I learned from pre-season, a couple of the lads were late and it was important to implement his rules there and then,” said Rashford, who also “100 per cent” agreed with Ten Hag’s decision. “I wasn’t even that late – I don’t think he was being harsh, late is late – but it was probably about 45 seconds, a minute late. “I already knew what was going to happen because of the rules he implemented in pre-season. “I am not going to sit and argue about it, because we’ve got a game to win. Christian Horner has suggested that there are “lessons to learn” from Formula 1’s return to Las Vegas after describing the Sin City schedule as “brutal”. Red Bull enjoyed a successful weekend in Nevada, with Max Verstappen fighting back to secure a thrilling 18th win of the season. A glamorous occasion marked F1’s first race in Las Vegas in more than three decades as the sport sought to capitalise on a popularity boom in the United States with a third date on the calendar. But not all ran smoothly - second practice was delayed into the very early hours of Friday morning after a loose manhole cover forced the cancellation of the first session on the street circuit, while a race start time of 10pm local time also proved unpopular. And while recognising a need to satisfy global audiences with suitable start times, Horner believes that the schedule should be reconsidered ahead of next season’s grand prix. “There are going to be many lessons to learn,” the Red Bull team principal explained. “One of the things to look at is the running schedule because it has been brutal for the team and all the men and women behind the scenes. “Everybody is leaving Vegas slightly f*****! One way or another it has been a brutal weekend for everyone behind the scenes, and I think we need to look at how we can improve that for the future. “I think run it a little earlier in the evening because you are never going to keep every television audience totally happy. This is an American race. If you run it 8pm in the evening or something like that it would just be a bit more comfortable for the men and women working behind the scenes.” Verstappen’s victory was one of his best of a season that the Dutchman has dominated. F1 and Las Vegas have signed a ten-year deal in the hope of establishing the city as a perpetual location for the motorsport, but Frederic Vasseur, Leclerc’s team principal at Ferrari, agrees with Horner that the timings require a rethink. “If we have to improve, it’s perhaps the timing,” Vasseur told Motorsport.com. ““It’s not an easy one to find, if you want to have a decent timing for Asia, Europe, East Coast, West Coast. “In the past, we had no issue because F1 was just for the European people, and we had to stick to the European timing, and it was okay. “Now it’s a worldwide project, and it’s much more difficult to find something fitting with the expectations of the 24-hour zone. Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovich will replace Lance Stroll for first practice at this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix. Brazilian driver Drugovich, who joined Aston as a test and reserve driver after winning the F2 championship last year, will take one of Aston’s prerequisite rookie practice slots at Monza. Drugovich has happy memories of Monza as it was the track where he clinched the F2 title last year. It will be the 23-year-old’s second taste of action behind the AMR23, having previously filled in for Stroll during pre-season testing in Bahrain after the Canadian injured his wrists a few weeks before the 2023 season. “The car felt great when I drove it in pre-season testing and it will be fascinating to feel how it has improved since then,” said Drugovich. “I’ve spent a lot of time in the simulator helping to develop the car so understanding how that correlates to the real thing will be super valuable for me too. “It’s also a fantastic opportunity for me to demonstrate what I’ve learnt through my testing programme. Since Bahrain I’ve done many more miles in an F1 car so I have an even better understanding of how I can deliver valuable feedback for the team.” All 10 teams are required to fill one FP1 slot per season with a rookie opportunity per car. It was one Australian woman's lucky day after she found a "one in a billion" perfectly round egg in her grocery shop. The rare circular egg was bought at Woolworths supermarket and amazed at her discovery she shared a video of it with Melbourne’s 3AW broadcaster Jacqui Felgate. In the Instagram post sharing the clip, Felgate wrote: "From a follower. Not my egg." People in the comments were also stunned at the egg's roundness and shared their thoughts, with some sharing concern for the "poor chicken" that had to lay the unusually shaped egg.
