A couple, who purchased an Italian a €1 property in Italy, have said "it changed everything" in their lives. Jeffrey Pfefferle and his partner Leon McNaught found out about the scheme back in 2019 – and two years later ended up buying two houses in Sicily for a combined total of £27,651. The pair opened up to CNN Travel about their decision, saying they "really fought for it from the start." "At Rome Airport, I went into panic mode when we missed the gate for the Palermo flight – luckily we were able to catch another plane later that same day," they said. Jeffrey continued: "It’s been gutted [by the previous owners] and our architect says it’s an easy fix, a blank canvas. "The electrics are fine, and the plumbing is done." They went on to discuss the "better quality of life" in the Mediterranean which for them, "values people above money." "A place that embraces a slower pace, giving more priority to the important things," they said. “We are surrounded by a community that have shown us extreme caring and kindness. "It’s a place that has taught us that time is our utmost prized possession and that time is meant for living, and living it to the fullest with those we love and care about.” It comes after another couple couldn't afford to buy a home in the UK – so they purchased an entire farm in Italy instead. The Le Marche farm was initially on the market for €200,000 (about £170,000), but the pair managed to negotiate the price down to €160,000 and bought it outright with their savings and £50,000 of loans. Father of eight Mick Jagger has shared some of the lessons he’s learned about parenting. The 80-year-old singer addressed how his approach to fatherhood has changed over the years during a recent interview with The Guardian. His eight children range from ages 52 to six years old, as he welcomed his youngest son, Deveraux, with his current girlfriend, Melanie Hamrick, in 2016. Speaking to The Guardian, Jagger confessed that even when he welcomed his eighth child, he still had a bit to learn about fatherhood. “You get a bit out of practice – it’s not like riding a bike,” he said. “The more children you have, the more laissez-faire you get about them, to be honest. And it depends on the child.” The Rolling Stones frontman reflected on how he’s enjoyed seeing his children develop new passions as they’ve grown up. However, he also acknowledged that there were a few moments in his children’s lives that he missed out on due to his busy career. “They have their own personalities and you can mould them to a certain extent, but you see their likes and dislikes and encourage them to do things they gravitate towards,” he said. “It’s fun to have children, at any age. But if you’re working and always away, you don’t get to enjoy it quite as much.” Jagger also explained why his approach to parenting is different with his youngest son, in comparison to his other children. “I wasn’t working so much, so I was able to spend more time. And then we had the lockdown – he’s only six, and two of those years I did almost nothing [with the band],” he said. In addition to Deveraux, Jagger has seven children from previous relationships. In 1970, Jagger welcomed his first child, Karis, 52, with actor Marsha Hunt. The next year, his ex-wife Bianca Jagger gave birth to their daughter Jade, 51. He shares daughters Elizabeth, 39, and Georgia May, 31, and sons James, 38, and Gabriel, 25, with actor Jerry Hall. In 1999, he and model Luciana Gimenez Morad welcomed their son Lucas, 24. This isn’t the first time that Jagger has spoken candidly about his family. Last month, he hinted that the Rolling Stones’ post-1971 catalogue would be donated to charity rather than sold for a profit to his children. “The children don’t need $500m [£412m] to live well. Come on,” Jagger told The Wall Street Journal. “You may do some good in the world,” the “Old Habits Die Hard” singer added, suggesting that the catalogue may end up going to charity. Earlier this year, his partner opened up about raising their six-year-old in the midst of her busy schedule. After debuting her first novel, titled First Position, Hamrick described some of the “magical” trips she’s taken with her partner and son, including a safari in Botswana and South Africa. She told The Times in June: “Mick had been joking with me, ‘We’re going camping.’ I was like, ‘I don’t want to go camping. I’m not a camper.’ We got there and I was like, ‘This isn’t camping.’” She described how her family prefers to live at different residences at a time, before acknowledging how important travelling is to her and Jagger. “Just full nomad. We want to travel as long as we can until school gets us,” she said. The former dancer also noted that her child has a tutor who travels with them, as the six-year-old is enrolled in a school in Los Angeles and “goes [to school] a little bit when we’re in France”. Terrified villagers say they are being attacked by 7ft tall armoured aliens that look like the Green Goblin from Spider-Man. Locals described the extraterrestrials as having large heads and yellowish eyes. They claim they have attacked them every night for nearly a month since 11 July. A 15-year-old girl was allegedly grabbed from behind and had her neck cut when she resisted. Community members said they can’t sleep because they are in fear. They said the aliens are immune to their hunting weapons and called on the Peruvian military to step in to protect them from further interstellar intrusion. Villagers also claimed that the alien prowlers wear protective armour. Community leader Jairo Reátegui Ávila said: “These gentlemen are aliens. “They appear to be armoured like the Green Goblin from Spider-Man. “I shot one of them twice and he wasn’t injured, he rose and disappeared. “We’re very frightened about what’s happening here in our community.” He added: “Their shoes are round-shaped, which they use to float. “They float about one metre from the ground and there is a red light on the heel. “Their heads are long, they wear a mask and their eyes are yellowish. “They are experts at escaping.” Villagers have started carrying out night patrols to hunt down the alien intruders. They have requested a military presence from the authorities, however it reportedly takes a 10-hour river trip to reach the community from Iquitos City. Some villagers described the aliens as being like ‘pelacaras’, strange beings that feast on human fat and organs. According to reports, the police reached the remote area on board a speeder vessel and toured the village perimeter, including the area where the teenager was allegedly attacked. It is unclear if the authorities found anything to corroborate the villagers’ claims and if the government intends to deploy military personnel to the area for a sustained period of time.
