'Alien' seen walking around on New York subway in creepy viral footage
Footage of an “alien” walking around New York City and even riding the subway has gone viral, but there’s actually a reasonable explanation. Over recent years, the existence of aliens has become a legitimate topic of conversation, particularly after a UFO whistleblower claimed institutions are covering up key proof. But, an alien walking around the middle of one of the busiest cities on Earth probably isn’t the “proof” most people were expecting to see. Clips of an alien in NYC have been going viral across social media with people spotting it in multiple locations, using only hand gestures to interact with the public. The “alien” was a blue-green colour with a large bald head, misshapen ears and black eyes, resembling the classic look of what people picture when they think of an alien. It wore a baggy t-shirt that had a picture of planet Earth on it, along with the words, “Love your mother”. Some hilarious theories began flying around, with some suggesting that the alien’s presence was intentional to prepare society for what is to come. On TikTok, one person wrote: “They are preparing us for reality.” Another urged: “Stay awake.” But, the actual explanation was much more simple as it was revealed the alien wandering NYC was part of a promotion for the new movie Jules, released on 11 August. The sci-fi comedy film follows 79-year-old Milton Robinson and how his life is changed when a UFO crash lands in his garden in rural Pennsylvania. Jules Trailer #1 (2023) www.youtube.com While the film’s production team hasn’t officially confirmed it was a stunt to promote the movie, it looks identical to the alien, Jules, in the film, so people seem to think it’s a pretty safe assumption. Angry onlookers shout ‘dog killer’ at George Santos as he arrives at court for fraud hearing in New York
Angry protesters called congressman George Santos a “dog killer” on Friday as the Republican made an appearance at a Long Island federal court house, his first hearing since pleading not guilty last month to a13-count indictment related to fraud and money laundering charges. The chants were in reference to an alleged scandal in which the representative allegedly made off with more than $3,000 raised in a fundraiser to save a disabled US Navy veteran’s service dog, one of the many alleged acts of deception Mr Santos made as he worked towards his spot in Congress. The first-term congressman has denied knowing about veteran Richard Osthoff or his dog, calling the allegations “fake.” As Mr Santos exited court, Mr Osthoff, who was in the crowd, yelled, “You killed Sapphire, George. You killed my dog.” Others in the crowd reportedly chanted, “Resign” and “Shame” as the Republican passed by. Mr Santos was in court for a status conference on the federal case against him, where he faces 13 different charges, including fraud, money laundering, and theft of public funds. Prosecutors charge the New York rep mislead supporters and donors into giving him money, which he allegedly used for personal expenses that funded a lavish lifestyle. They also claim he misleadingly obtained unemployment benefits and lied about his personal finances when campaigning for the House of Representatives. Mr Santos has admitted to lying about certain aspects of his background, and is accused of fabricating everything from his education background to his religion to his career success. In court, Mr Santos did not speak, but his lawyers claim he and the government have exhibited a “wonderful working relationship” so far. The defence also said the prosecution has given them 86,000 pages of evidence to go through. The next court date for Mr Santos is 7 September. Outside of the federal case against him, Rep Santos is also under investigation by the House Ethics Committee. Furious Putin calls Wagner coup ‘treason’: ‘This is a stab in the back to everyone in Russia’
Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a televised address, accusing the Wagner group of a ‘stab in the back’ and saying Russia is ‘facing treason’. Russian mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin has said he wants to oust the leadership of the Defence Ministry over its purported incompetence and has posted videos of himself in the southern Russian city of Rostov where the Russian army has one of its headquarters. An audio message on the social media app Telegram detailed Prigozhin’s fighters had crossed the border and were “ready to die” in confrontation with those in their way. “All of us are ready to die. All 25,000, and then another 25,000,” he said, after earlier accusing the Russian top brass of launching strikes against his men,” he said. “We are dying for the Russian people.” However, Putin was quick to double-down on those working outside his regime and warned of “inevitable punishment” for anyone dividing Russian society. Putin went on to say some of his countrymen had been “tricked into a criminal adventure” without specifically referring to those under Prigozhin. He also said “high treason” was the result of certain “ambitions” that are underway. “This is a criminal campaign. It is equivalent to armed mutiny,” Putin said. “Russia will defend itself and repel this move. We are fighting for the life and security of our citizens and our territorial integrity. “In the face of those who are fighting on the front, this is a stab in the back of the troops and the people of Russia.” Putin acknowledged the situation was “very complicated” and unfolding at speed. “Those who mutiny have betrayed Russia and I urge anybody involved in it to cease any kind of participation in armed conflict,” he said. “These people will be brought to justice on behalf of our people.” Prigozhin currently claims to have more than 25,000 fighters under his command. In one video, Prigozhin said he was at the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov and demanded Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and the country’s top general Valery Gerasimov come meet him. “We have arrived here, we want to receive the chief of the general staff and Shoigu,” Prigozhin said in the video. “Unless they come, we’ll be here, we’ll blockade the city of Rostov and head for Moscow.” He earlier accused the Kremlin of deliberately bombing Wagner troops in a series of explosive claims. The alleged attacks include the bombing of a training camp in Bakhmut, Ukraine, which killed dozens. Prigozhin said in another video multiple military sites in Rostov, including the airfield, were under the Wagner’s control. In a statement, Russia’s Defence Ministry said the Wagner mercenary fighters had been “deceived and dragged into a criminal adventure” by Prigozhin. Wagner fighters have played a central role in Russia’s efforts so far, including taking the Bakhmut which involved some of the longest war battles taking place.
