Conor McGregor’s team suffer more misfortune on The Ultimate Fighter
Conor McGregor’s team suffered another tough week on the new season of The Ultimate Fighter, as one of the Irishman’s mentees was declared unfit to compete and another was stopped in Round 1. McGregor and Michael Chandler, who are due to fight each other later this year, are coaching opposing teams of athletes on the new season of the UFC television show. In Episode 1, McGregor’s team member Nate Jennerman was knocked out inside eight seconds, and there was more misfortune for the Irishman’s group in Episode 2. In the episode, which aired on Tuesday (6 June), Trevor Wells developed a cold sore and was deemed medically unfit to face Timur Valiev, before Mando Gutierrez was beaten by Cody Gibson in Round 1. Gutierrez was dropped with a clean knee to the chin, before Gibson applied ground and pound to secure a TKO win. McGregor, wearing a cowboy hat given to him by Gutierrez, was visibly frustrated at ringside. “Ah, unlucky, Mando,” the former dual-weight UFC champion said. In a post-fight exchange in the team’s locker room, McGregor, 34, told Gutierrez: “Right here with you, Mando. Here with you, my man. Back to the gym now.” Gutierrez replied, “I just wanted to give my heart,” to which McGregor said: “That’s what you did, man! That’s what you f***ing did, my man!” Gutierrez responded, “Coach, I’m way better than that,” to which McGregor replied, “I know that.” “It was a tough fight, that was,” McGregor later said in an interview. “The flying knee was a good shot. Mando’s a great little fighter. I would’ve liked him to stand his ground more; he was on the float a little bit too much for my liking. We were working on cutting the Octagon in [training].” A tearful Gutierrez, sporting a severely swollen eye, added: “You know, I fought my heart out, and it wasn’t enough. I love this game, sometimes it just don’t love me back. I’ll be back, it is what it is.” All you need to know about season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter can be found at the highlighted link here, and you can read our review of the new documentary McGregor Forever here. Is Danny Duncan alive? 'Accident' in YouTube star's latest video concerns fans
YouTuber Danny Duncan has given his fans a fright thanks to a cleverly edited video of a car accident that appeared to show him being wiped out by a flying vehicle. The 31-year-old shared a video on his popular channel, which has more than 7 million followers and mostly consists of comedy and prank clips. His latest video, which was posted on August 23rd, is called 'We Jumped My Car Through an RV!' and does exactly what it says on the tin. It involves Duncan and his friends building a ramp so they can drive a red Mustang at high speed through the side of a beat-up old RV. However, the 11-and-a-half-minute video ends on a worrying note. As Duncan begins to introduce the challenge from inside the RV, the car appears to smash right through the side of it demolishing the vehicle before the YouTuber could get out of the way. It's the final moment of the video and we aren't given reassurances as to whether Duncan is ok or not. However, it's highly unlikely that YouTube would allow a video on its platform where someone dies. Instead, Duncan's video is actually a smart bit of editing. Eagle-eyed viewers on X/Twitter notice that Duncan isn't in the frame when the car crashes through the RV. However, the speed of the car and the editing still managed to fool people who feared that Duncan had either been killed or was seriously hurt. "This Danny Duncan Vid fake right?" wrote one person. Another added: "Nah Danny Duncan’s editors deserve a raise for sure. I really thought bro died." A third said: "Danny Duncan uploaded footage of him getting hit in the head by a car. You think he’s ok?" Yet, as explained the YouTuber is completely fine and there is no reports of him being hurt or even having a scratch on him. Mikel Arteta concerned by Gabriel Jesus hamstring injury: ‘Not good news’
Gabriel Jesus will be assessed in the coming days to determine the extent of a hamstring injury picked up during Arsenal’s 2-1 win at Sevilla, as Mikel Arteta admitted the forward’s second-half substitution was “not good news”. Jesus scored a spectacular goal and set up Gabriel Martinelli’s opener in the victory in Spain, which saw the Gunners take control of their Champions League group. But the Brazilian’s fitness is now a major concern ahead of a key run of games in Arsenal’s season. The Gunners host Sheffield United on Saturday before they face trips to West Ham in the Carabao Cup and Newcastle in the Premier League next week. Jesus was substituted in the second half of the Champions League win, having been holding his hamstring moments before the board was held up showing his number. Speaking after the game to TNT Sports, Arteta admitted the injury had prompted the substitution, saying it was “worrying” and that Jesus would be assessed in the next few days to discover the extent of the injury. "He felt something in his hamstring so let’s see,” Arteta said. “He straight away asked to be subbed which is not good news because he’s not a player that does that at all so we’ll have to wait and see in the next few days.” Arsenal’s victory put them top of Group B on six points, with Lens now in second on five points after their 1-1 draw with PSV Eindhoven.
