Bullish Josh Taylor has warned title challenger Teofimo Lopez he will be at the peak of his powers on Saturday night as he bids to reign at Madison Square Garden. The 32-year-old Scot will take to the ring for the first time since his contentious victory, via a split decision, over England’s Jack Catterall in February 2022. Taylor knows he was not at his best that night in Glasgow almost 16 months ago, but he is adamant he will be firing on all cylinders as he goes head to head with 25-year-old Brooklyn boxer Lopez in their WBO super-lightweight title showdown in New York. “We could both go on our previous performances and say ‘you’re only as good as your last fight’ but I believe that’s a lot of s***,” said Taylor. “I prepared crap for the last fight so I performed crap. I believe he was the same (when winning by a split decision against Sandor Martin last December). He took his eye off the ball and he performed crap as well. “We’ve both got the bit between our teeth here. He’s up against the king of the division. I know he’s a good fighter. The version that beat (Vasyl) Lomachenko (in October 2020) is a very good fighter and that’s the version I’m preparing for. “It’s all about your preparation. This time I’ve prepared diligently and to the best of my ability, and you’ll see the best of me on Saturday night.” Taylor admits he is living out a childhood dream in topping the bill at the Garden. “I’ve been here 10-12 days now,” he said of his preparations in New York. “I came over nice and early to get used to the heat. “I was expecting the heat but it’s not been so hot. It’s been OK for me being Scottish, used to the cold weather, so I haven’t had to adjust too much. “I’m excited to be here. To be involved in a big fight and the main event like this, doing the Empire State Building and stuff like that, it’s really cool. “This is a dream come true. Starting out as a young kid, you always dream of coming stateside and fighting in venues like this. “This is the ‘Mecca of Boxing’, Madison Square Garden. Fighting in a place like this, topping the bill, bringing the travelling fans – the Tartan Army – over as well, so I can’t wait to get in there to make this dream become a reality. “This clown here (Lopez) is in my way but he’s another piece of cannon fodder, that’s all he is.” The fight is due to begin around 3am BST on Sunday. Pep Guardiola expects Chelsea to be back challenging for the title in the near future. Chelsea last won the Premier League during Guardiola’s first season at Manchester City in 2016-17. Since then it is City who have dominated the competition, taking the crown in five of the past six campaigns. Chelsea did edge out City in the 2021 Champions League final but there has been plenty of turbulence at the London club since, and they currently sit 10th in the table. Guardiola, who takes his side to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, said: “Chelsea remain one of the more important teams in England. “It’s true that in the Premier League they were not close to winning it in these last seasons but they’re still one of the strongest teams, there’s no doubts about that. “I see that in the last games they are alive, they have good spirit, they are aggressive, they have a good pattern. The quality is there. “It’s one of the toughest games that we have during the season. Sooner or later Chelsea will be there fighting for the titles, and I guess sooner than later.” Chelsea have had a rocky start to the campaign under new manager Mauricio Pochettino but Guardiola has no doubt they will come on strong. Ukrainian troops have advanced by more than a kilometre in the last day against Russian forces near the eastern city of Bakhmut, a military spokesperson said on Friday. His comments were the latest by Kyiv signalling that the counteroffensive it launched in early June is gradually making progress although Russian accounts of fighting in the Bakhmut sector differ from Ukraine’s. “The defence forces continue to hold the initiative there, putting pressure on the enemy, conducting assault operations, advancing along the northern and southern flanks,” Serhiy Cherevatyi told Ukrainian television. “In particular, over the past day, they have advanced more than one kilometre (0.62 mile).” Elsewhere, the president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko said there were “no war heroes” following Wagner’s attempted coup in Moscow after Vladimir Putin was hailed a hero by Russian state TV. MrBeast YouTube star Chris Tyson has revealed they are on hormone replacement therapy and posted pictures of their “glow up” between Zelda game releases. Tyson is well-known among the YouTube community after appearing in videos alongside MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, on his channel with over 153 million subscribers. Fans of the MrBeast channel may have noticed a change in Tyson’s appearance and that is due to the fact they revealed they are currently on hormone replacement therapy. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The 26-year-old posted two images on Twitter, jumping on a trend that appears to see transgender individuals sharing one image of themselves from 2017 when the Zelda game Breath of the Wild was released, and now, as the Zelda game Tears of the Kingdom has recently been released. Tyson shared his images, writing: “Me when Breath of the Wild came out VS. me when Tears of the Kingdom came out.” The images show how Tyson has changed over six years, now sporting long hair and wearing make-up. Many fans of the internet personality complimented the “glow up”. In April, Tyson revealed that starting hormone replacement therapy had “saved” their life and called for people to be able to make “informed decisions” about what is best for them. Tyson wrote: “Informed consent HRT saved my and many others' lives.
