Dillon Danis calls Logan Paul a 'pu**y' and tells him to meet him anywhere for a fight
Dillon Danis calls Logan Paul a 'pu**y' and tells him to meet him anywhere for a fight
Mixed martial artist Dillon Danis has challenged Logan Paul to meet him ‘anywhere in London’, after a dramatic press conference to promote their fight in Manchester in October ended without a face-off between the two fighters. Danis and Paul will enter the ring for a fight during the same event which sees musician and YouTuber KSI take on boxer Tommy Fury. However, when the pair were unable to finish the conference with a classic face-to-face, Danis tweeted: “I wanted a face-off with Logan Paul. He called it off in fear of his life and got me escorted out. “Meet anywhere in London p****.” Paul, meanwhile, put out his own tweet claiming Danis “threw a tantrum and left the arena before our face off”, attaching a photo of him confronting Mike Perry – “a real fighter who will actually show up” - instead. The comment is a reference to Danis previously being booked to fight KSI earlier this year, before pulling out. And things were already tense in the build-up to the press conference, as Paul took to Instagram Live to claim Danis “lodged himself in his [hotel] room” and is “not showing up” for their filmed face-to-face, before Danis finally arrived 40 minutes late. And Danis couldn’t help but clap back on Twitter in relation to the delay, joking he “had a surprise in the hotel room for my birthday”, sharing yet another picture of Paul’s fiancée Nina Agdal. During the press conference itself, Danis walked on-stage with the same Toy Story alien hat worn by Paul in his infamous 2017 video from Japan’s Aokigahara forest in which he filmed a person who had died by suicide, and then launched Prime bottles into the audience. Paul, meanwhile, had his own surprise props, beginning with a poster appearing to show Danis in an altercation together with text saying “real fighter”, and ending with a birthday cake depicting a bloodied Danis knocked out on the floor. The conference was brought to a sudden halt, however, when Fury’s father John Fury punched a table before flipping them all over. As the chaos ensued, Paul got the head of Danis from his cake and lobbed it at his opponent. While the event resumed for a face-off between KSI and Fury, which saw the former push the latter, no face-off took place between Danis and Paul. The boxing match involving all four fighters takes place in Manchester on 14 October. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Have your say in our news democracy. Flat Earthers attempted to sail to the edge of the world – and it ended in massive disappointment
Flat Earthers attempted to sail to the edge of the world – and it ended in massive disappointment
Despite no evidence backing up their claims, Flat Earthers are adamant that they are correct when it comes to the shape of our Earth. Even when their own evidence disproves them, it seems. Back in 2020, a couple from Venice tried to prove the world was flat by setting sail to the edge of the world, which they believed was somewhere near Sicily, after a planned Flat Earthed cruise to Antartica was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The couple violated the lockdown restrictions in place at the time of their travels, selling their car in order to buy a boat. Using a compass, a device that works because the Earth is round, the pair set off in their boat to reach Lampedusa. However, it was not long until they found themselves lost, tired, and on the island of Ustica instead. Salvatore Zichichi of the Maritime Health Office of the Ministry of Health told Italian newspaper La Stampa: "For them, Lampedusa [an island of the Italian Pelagie Islands in the Mediterranean Sea] was the end of the Earth." "The funny thing is that they orient themselves with the compass, an instrument that works on the bass of terrestrial magnetism. A principle that they, as Flat Earthers, should reject." They were placed in quarantine by health officials due to the ongoing pandemic at the time, but the couple escaped and sailed away in pursuit of the edge of Earth. Three hours later, they were caught. The pair tried to escape one more time but failed, and abandoned their plan, taking a ferry back to mainland Italy once their time in quarantine was fulfilled. Today’s Google Doodle reignites age-old British debate about scones
Today’s Google Doodle reignites age-old British debate about scones
Google is celebrating British scones today (Saturday 10 June) with an adorable Google Doodle that nods to the age-old debate around jam and cream. The illustration features two anthropomorphic scones eyeing each other suspiciously. On top of the scone on the left is a layer of cream, then jam; while the scone on the right has jam first, then cream. The Doodle is a playful reference to one of Britons’ favourite things to debate over – in which order should one put jam and cream on their scones? Cream tea has been a part of the UK’s culinary traditions since the 11th century, but there is a big difference in opinion between people living in Devon and those living in Cornwall. In Devon, clotted cream is typically spread first followed by jam whilst the Cornish tradition is to spread jam first, and then the cream. On Twitter, many keen-eyed Britons have noticed the Google Doodle reference, much to their delight. “They’ve been very diplomatic in depicting it the proper way and misguided way,” one person wrote, adding a winking emoji. Another said: “Looks like today’s Google Doodle is trying to stir up trouble big time.” A third added: “Today’s Google Doodle is not going to go down well in Devon and Cornwall.” Others highlighted yet another scone-related conundrum unique to the UK, which is how to pronounce the word “scone”. Some parts of the UK pronounce it rhyming with “gone”, while others say it should rhyme with “cone”. One person said it should be pronounced “sc-on” because “once you’ve had it… it’s gone”. Another said they use both pronunciations but added: “If I want to sound posh I go for ‘s-cone’.” In 2018, it emerged that the late Queen Elizabeth II enjoyed her cream tea by having jam spread on her scones first, followed by cream. Former royal chef Darren McGrady tweeted: “Jam first at Buckingham Palace garden parties! “The Queen always had homemade Balmoral jam first, with clotted cream on top at Buckingham Palace garden parties in the royal tea tent and all royal tea parties.” Read More Who is Willi Ninja?
