Scientists who were attempting to map an abandoned ant hill didn't expect to find a mega-city when they shot the hill full of cement, but that's exactly what they discovered. Over three days, scientists pumped 10 tons of cement into the empty ant hill to map its networks. After the cement dried, they dug for weeks around it. The excavation revealed an incredibly impressive, intricate, and bizarre ant mega-city. The mega-city was a truly colossal undertaking. A video revealed that the ants created the structure by displacing 40 tons of dirt. And it really is a mega-city. The ants networked to disposal pits and fungus gardens. Each tunnel was designed to ensure thorough ventilation and reduce transport time. The narrator disclosed the truth. That despite the complex nature of the mega-city, there was no single architect of any - but it was down to the collective will of the colony. "Everything looks like it has been designed by an architect a single mind but of course, that isn’t true," they said. Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been suspended from all football-related activity with immediate effect for eight months and fined £50,000, the FA has announced. The England international was charged with 262 breaches of the Football Association’s betting rules between 25 February 2017 and 23 January 2021. The FA withdrew 30 of the breaches, and he admitted to the remaining 232. His sanctions were imposed by an independent Regulatory Commission following a hearing. Toney can return to training only with his club for the final four months of his suspension, starting from 17 September 2023. Brentford issued a statement, saying: “Brentford FC notes the decision of an independent Regulatory Commission to issue an eight-month ban from all football and football-related activity to Ivan Toney with immediate effect.” The 27-year-old, who has scored 20 goals for Brentford in the Premier League this season was charged with breaking FA rule E8, which refers to players being barred from betting on games or sharing information for betting purposes. Hawaiian native Nicole Scherzinger has been accused of ignoring the plight of her homeland by posting a swimsuit photoshoot on Instagram amid wildfires in Hawaii. The Maui fires have ravaged 850 hectares of land and is now the deadliest bushfire in US history. Hawaii Governor Josh Green yesterday confirmed that 93 people had been killed by the raging fires that started on 8 August. Six fires are still currently burning through the Hawaiian coast, with the Lahaina fire now under 85 per cent containment. Officials have warned that the death toll will likely rise once again when interior searches of around 1000 torched buildings take place. About 46,000 residents and visitors have flown out of Kahului Airport in West Maui, according to the Hawaii Tourism Authority. With that in mind, when the former Pussycat Dolls singer posted images of herself in a swimsuit online, people thought she was being insensitive. Comments have since been turned off and deleted on the post, but before they were, one person reportedly commented on Scherzinger’s pics, “Maui on fire but you out here half naked in your glamorous life … OK”. Another added, “I just think it’s a bit insensitive bearing in mind what’s happening in (Hawaii)”. Another agreed, “Time to stop and support Hawaii, show us your doing something instead of posting pictures in bikini”. However, in fairness to Scherzinger her previous Instagram post was for a fundraiser for Maui and she has since followed it up with a video pleading with those to do what they can. She has also used her Instagram Stories to promote causes helping those in need on Maui. The cause of the wildfires is under investigation but it hasn't stopped conspiracy theorists spreading claims they were started by a 'space laser beam.'
