This Morning viewers brand Holly Willoughby's speech a 'rip-off' of The Morning Show
Holly Willoughby chose to address the ongoing Phillip Schofield scandal on This Morning today (5 June), but eagle-eyed viewers were quick to notice her long-awaited speech drew serious similarities to that of Jennifer Aniston's character in Apple TV's The Morning Show. While Willoughby opted to begin the show by saying "deep breath", Anniston's character, Alex Levy, says "stay strong" in a similar fashion. "To you at home, I understand how you must be feeling because I and the whole team here at The Morning Show are feeling the same way", Levy says in the scene where she apologises for her co-worker being struck off. Meanwhile, Willoughby echoed a similar sentiment, saying: "Firstly, are you OK? I hope so. It feels very strange sitting here without Phil and I imagine you might be feeling a lot like I have - shaken, troubled, let down." Click here to sign up for our newsletters

Robot hand with bones, ligaments and tendons 3D printed in world first
Researchers have successfully created a robotic hand with bones, ligaments and tendons using 3D printing for the first time. A team from ETH Zurich in Switzerland were able to accomplish the complex construction using a new technology that combines 3D printing with a laser scanner and feedback mechanism. The method opens up the possibility of building far more complex and durable robots in the future, according to the researchers. “We wouldn’t have been able to make this hand with the fast-curing polyacrylates we’ve been using in 3D printing so far,” said Robert Katzschmann, a professor of robotics at ETH Zurich and leader of the research into the next-generation robotic hand. It marks a breakthrough in both 3D printing – with all the hand’s components printed simultaneously rather than assembled separately – as well as the field of soft robotics, which shuns materials like metal that are typically used to construct robots. “Robots made of soft materials, such as the hand we developed, have advantages over conventional robots made of metal,” said Professor Katzschmann. “Because they’re soft, there is less risk of injury when they work with humans, and they are better suited to handling fragile goods.” Despite significant advances in industrial robots over the last decade, they still pose a considerable risk to humans working alongside them. Earlier this month, a South Korean man was crushed to death by a machine that mistook him for a box of vegetables. The latest soft robotic hand was detailed in a paper, titled ‘Vision-controlled jetting for composite systems and robots’, published in the scientific journal Nature on Wednesday. “Recreating complex structures and functions of natural organisms in a synthetic form is a long-standing goal for humanity,” the paper notes. “Our approach provides an automated, scalable, high-throughput process to manufacture high-resolution, functional multi material systems.” Read More MIT invents self-replicating AI robots Users of iPhones can now check bank balance from Wallet app Battery breakthrough brings ‘unprecedented performance’ to next-gen cells Google issues three-week warning to Gmail account holders

People are divided over whether this supermarket habit is gross or not
A woman has started a debate around shopping etiquette, with many calling her habit "gross". During an episode of the Australian cooking show My Kitchen Rules, contestant Patricija was required to pick up the ingredients for a Lithuanian dish she was preparing. One segment shows Patricija shopping for shallots, accidentally dropping one on the supermarket floor before simply putting it back on the shelf. Many viewers turned to social media with their takes, with one calling it "just gross". "I know we're supposed to wash our produce when we get it home from the supermarket, but no one does it," they added. Another said the "right thing to do is to take it to a staff member and tell them it fell on the floor". Meanwhile, a third jumped to her defence, confessing: "I put it back. If I damaged it beyond sellable I'd show it to the produce guy and tell him I dropped it. Then move on with my shopping." In other shopping etiquette news, one woman shared the shocking moment she found what appeared to be used boxers on a rack in a clothing shop. "Gross," she said in her viral TikTok clip. "Rather than leaving them there, I just did everyone a favour and threw them away, they didn’t belong here. I did notify a staff [member] of what I found and they thanked me for throwing it away." One person commented: "That is so nice of you for taking it out of the racks, a lot of people would just leave it." Another added: "Wait, you take the award for the number one best samaritan."
