Sarah Burton to leave Alexander McQueen after 13 years as creative director
Sarah Burton is set to leave Alexander McQueen after serving as creative director for 13 years, the brand has announced. Burton, 49, was appointed to the role in 2010 following the death of Lee Alexander McQueen, having worked alongside the designer for 14 years. She was responsible for the creation of the wedding dress worn by the Princess of Wales, when she married Prince William in 2011. “I am so proud of everything I’ve done and of my incredible team at Alexander McQueen,” Burton said in a statement. “They are my family, and this has been my home for the past 26 years. I want to thank Francois-Henri Pinault for believing in me and offering me this amazing opportunity.” The label’s spring/summer 2024 collection, due to be unveiled at Paris Fashion Week later this month, will be her last. “Above all, I want to thank Lee Alexander McQueen,” Burton continued. “He taught me so much and I am eternally grateful to him. “I am looking forward to the future and my next chapter, and will always carry this treasured time with me.” François-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of parent company Kering, said: “I am immensely grateful to Sarah, and I want to personally thank her for her work over the past two decades, first alongside Lee Alexander McQueen, where her role was instrumental to his success, and then as the Creative Director since 2010. “Through her own experience, sensitivity and talent, Sarah continued to evolve the artistic expression of this iconic house. She kept and continued Lee’s heritage, attention to detail and unique vision, while adding her own personal, highly creative touch.” Gianfilippo Testa, CEO of Alexander McQueen, added: “We would like to express our immense gratitude to Sarah for writing such an important chapter in the history of the Alexander McQueen House. “Sarah’s contribution over the past 26 years will leave an indelible mark.” A new creative organisation will be announced in due course, the brand have said. Lionel Messi makes shock appearance on Twitch live stream after winning Ballon d’Or
Lionel Messi sent fans into a whirlwind after making a surprise appearance on Ibai Llanos' live Twitch stream. The football star briefly appeared on the stream while at the Ballon d'Or ceremony on Monday (October 30), where he bagged the award for a record eighth time. During the stream, he jokingly called out Llanos as a "son of a b*****," after he shared a text message conversation between the pair to his 15.3 million subscribers. Llanos congratulated Messi for his win before the Miami CF star turned the attention to the fact he was "pissed" at Llanos as he didn't "like what [he] did the other day". Llanos told him that the messages were "pixelated," to which Messi jokingly responded: "Next time I won’t reply to you. I’ll leave you to read next time." "I'm not going to answer you anymore because you make everything public and I don't like it…the Ballon d’Or? Now you are changing the topic you son of a b****," Messi candidly added. Upon accepting the award presented by David Beckham in Paris, Messi said he "couldn't imagine having the career that I've had... Everything that I've achieved." "The fortune I've had playing for the best team in the world, the best team in history. It's nice to win these individual trophies," he continued. "To win the Copa America and then the World Cup, to get it done is amazing. All of them [Ballon d'Or awards] are special for different reasons." Obsessed with Boursin? It’s the perfect way to elevate your leftovers
We threw away 68,000 tons of perfectly good food over the summer. Let that sink in for a moment. Overstocking, the heat, spontaneous social plans and having less motivation to cook were some of the main culprits, according to new research by Boursin. The most commonly wasted ingredients included sad vegetables, soggy pasta, wilted salad leaves and stale bread. Surprisingly, chicken, fish and even cheese made the top 20 list of frequently wasted foods. In an effort to put a stopper in this cycle, Boursin has teamed up with Great British Bake Off star Manon LagreÌ€ve to serve up simple solutions for reducing food waste. Aimed at the 67 per cent of us who prefer to cook simpler and less time-consuming dishes through simple family friendly recipes, LagreÌ€ve’s recipes showcase how British culinary classics can be easily elevated with the nation’s favourite indulgent cheese, Boursin, and a unique French twist. So dig out the leftovers from the fridge, grab a pack of Boursin, and get cooking.
