Deontay Wilder has warned Anthony Joshua not to let the opportunity to make ‘history’ pass him by. The American has been out of the ring for more than a year, knocking out Robert Helenius inside a round in October 2022. But despite concerns over ring rust, Wilder has dismissed any potential delays to a mouthwatering fight with Joshua, while current world title holders Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk prepare to face each other to become the undisputed champion. Joshua also fought Helenius in his last fight in August, delivering a spectacular knockout in the seventh round, but Wilder is now in a hurry to meet ‘AJ’ in the ring. Wilder said: “Everyone is looking forward to this fight, hopefully it happens. I’m doing everything in my power to make it happen. “I’m referring to it as the Anthony Joshua fight. You’re hearing it from my mouth, here, personally, from the horse’s mouth, himself, I’m here and ready. I’m ready to go. “I heard some things from your promoter, that my last fight only lasted a short period of time and I haven’t fought in a year, he don’t know if I want to fight or not. I’m letting you know, right now, right here, I’m ready to fight, get in that ring, let’s make this the best time of our lives. This would be a major disaster if we didn’t get in the ring and put our stamp on history. “People would think of classic and great fights, I want them to think about us as well, being able to do that, we’ve got to get in the ring. “The silliest thing I’ve heard, people saying, ‘you’re not ready’. That’s the silliest thing. I don’t believe that, I believe you’re ready, I hope you’re ready, I think you’re ready. Let’s make this happen bro, me and you, make history happen. Looking forward to seeing your response, I’ll talk to you soon.” Joshua intimated last weekend the highly-anticipated bout could be part of a blockbuster card topped by Tyson Fury taking on Oleksandr Usyk next spring. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz fell while jogging and sustained bruises to his face, prompting him to cancel some appointments this weekend, the government said Saturday. In an emailed response to a query about the incident, the government said that the 65-year-old German leader had “a small sports accident” and canceled appointments Sunday in the central Hesse region, where a state election is being held on Oct. 8. But it said his appointments next week won't be affected. The Hesse-based Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper first reported on Saturday's incident. It cited a prominent lawmaker with Scholz's center-left Social Democrats, Michael Roth, who had invited the chancellor to his home town of Heringen and planned a discussion event with him there on Sunday. Scholz has led Germany since December 2021. He previously served as the country's finance and labor minister, and as mayor of Hamburg.

Charles Leclerc insisted he had “nowhere to go” after being booed by Mexican fans at the end of Sunday’s Mexico City Grand Prix. Leclerc, who finished third, was jeered by Mexican fans in the stadium section after the race won by Max Verstappen. The Ferrari man, who started on pole, was sandwiched in-between the Red Bull pair of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez at the start heading down into turn one. But while Verstappen was far enough ahead to take first place, Perez on the outside turned in too early and clipped the front of Leclerc’s car. It left Perez spinning off the track and subsequent damage to the floor and sidepod of his Red Bull meant he despairingly had to retire from his home race. “A lot of booing!” said a surprised Leclerc, after his tough reception. “Guys, honestly I had nowhere to go! Unfortunately, I touched Checo, I had nowhere to go. “It ended the race of Checo. It’s life, I’m disappointed to end the race of Checo, I honestly had nowhere to go!” Perez, to his credit in the media pen afterwards, did not blame the Monegasque driver for the incident. “I had a tremendous start, the gap was there,” said Perez. “I had the chance to take the lead, I went for it - I wasn’t expecting Charles to be in the middle and to brake that late. There was simply no room for three cars, it was a racing incident. “Especially [being] at your home grand prix and two times on the podium, I wanted to give it all – and totally went for it. It’s really sad but I’m extremely proud of myself and the team. We had the best start of the year, we just went for it. “Our pace is there, we knew what was wrong.
