Confusion has been sparked in Pakistan over the death of a TikTok influencer in the country named Ayesha Hanif yet another Pakistani influencer called Ayesha Mano has been wrongly identified as the one who has died. Reports began to emerge on Friday that Hanif had passed away while she was in the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre of an apparent drug overdose. As news of Hanif's death began to spread images of Mano began to spread across Pakistani media wrongly claiming that she was the influencer who had passed away. She wrote: "One of my friend [sic] sent me this last night in which they spread a rumour that I had passed away. For God's sake, you guys have no idea what kind of circumstances this ridiculous rumour may create in anyone's life. "I have never sought attention or created any kind of hype, so why are you trying to mess up my life? It's important to note that they don't even know my real name. I have never exaggerated or sensationalised anything about your lives and I refuse to accept any interference in my own life from anyone. "Moreover spreading false information without any regard for its consequences is not only irresponsible but also shows a lack of respect for the well-being of others. It should be stopped!!!" Mano is best known for dancing to the song 'Mera Dil Ye Pukare Aaja' which currently has more than 44 million views on YouTube. Very few new users were attracted by the anticipated launch of Twitter rival Threads’ web application, new data suggests. Instagram’s Threads, launched in early July, swiftly became the fastest-growing app in the world and initially posed as a legitimate rival to Elon Musk’s platform Twitter, now rebranded as X. Though launched without key features of its rival, its early strategic roll out at a key time when Twitter was facing widespread backlash for policy changes under Mr Musk helped Threads quickly accumulate users. But weeks since its launch, Threads lacked one of the most basic features of social networks – to be able to use it outside of an app. Last week, the Threads web app was finally rolled out, with the platform’s chief and Instagram boss Adam Mosseri announcing that the web experience was available for everyone at threads.net. “Let us know what you think,” he said. While in the US, Threads’ website use jumped up by a fifth over the past week compared to the week prior, how this traffic may have contributed to the onboarding of new users remains unclear. Globally, the traffic increase to the platform via the website during this period was also only 3 per cent, according to digital intelligence firm Similarweb. In terms of other parameters as well, Threads’ traffic appears worrying. Mobile intelligence firm Sensor Tower reported earlier this month that daily active users on Threads dropped over 80 per cent since the platform’s launch, with only 8 million users using the app daily. There isn’t much data to also suggest there’s a rapid influx of new users signing up to join Threads since its web app launch. Similarweb speculates that much of the new Threads website visitors in the US were likely just older users moving from the app to the web. The Meta-owned app is continuing to test and roll out new features to woo in more users. The company is also starting to test keyword search in Australia and New Zealand. Ron DeSantis has slammed his 2024 Republican Rival Donald Trump, claiming he “is a different guy” than when he first ran for president. The former president is leading all other Republican candidates for the party’s presidential nomination, with Mr DeSantis running in second place, according to polls. The Florida governor officially launched his own bid earlier this week in a chaotic Twitter Spaces event with billionaire Elon Musk. And Mr DeSantis told radio host Matt Murphy that he was running to the right of Mr Trump and portrayed himself as more conservative, according to USA Today. “It seems like he’s running to the left and I have always been somebody that’s just been moored in conservative principles,” said Mr DeSantis. “So these will be interesting debates to have, but I can tell you, you don’t win nationally by moving to the left, you win nationally by standing for bold policy. We showed that in Florida. I never watered down anything I did.” And Mr DeSantis claimed that Mr Trump is not the same person who first ran for office. “I don’t know what happened to Donald Trump; this is a different guy today than when he was running in 2015 and 2016 and I think the direction that he’s going with his campaign is the wrong direction,” Mr DeSantis said.
