The Soccer Tournament has made headlines around the world after Wrexham beat US Women 12-0 in the competition. In case you missed it, the Soccer Tournament is a new seven-a-side event that features a host of famous former players and sees 32 teams compete for a $1 million prize. It also features both male and female players, and the most eye-catching result so far saw the US Women team suffer a heavy defeat at the hands of Welsh side Wrexham. However, people have been posting the score without any context, and it’s led some social media users to infer that the US Women’s first team were the ones who got resoundingly beaten. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter In reality, it was a representative side made up of mostly retired internationals who took on a team including former Wrexham and Swansea player Lee Trundle, who led the Welsh side and bagged four goals. The US Women representative side are now out of the competition and can’t make it into the knockout stage. The result has attracted attention online, with clips from the game being shared on social media and people – either willingly, or not – misrepresenting the full context of the result. Speaking after the game, the US women’s side captain and World Cup winner Heather O'Reilly explained how happy she was to have been involved in the competition. “We're super proud, so happy to be here at this event,” O’Reilly said at half time. “Hopefully we've proven to anybody, just go for it, just live. “What's the worst thing that could happen? The inaugural Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix is set to take place this weekend in one of the biggest sporting events of the year, and in true Sin City style, there is going to be an F1 wedding chapel where couples can tie the knot. For those F1 fans who are racing to walk down the aisle, the first-ever (and aptly named) 'Race To The Altar' chapel will be located inside the paddock. In the video posted by the official F1 Las Vegas account, the entrance to the chapel has a bright led heart-shaped arch with a floral wall behind with a sign that reads: "Lights Out And Together We Go." There is also an F1 show car that has “Just Married” on the back of the rear wing. While this isn't your typical F1 Grand Prix feature, it is of course in Las Vegas - the home of speedy marriage licenses and weddings. Though the addition to the paddock has clearly divided F1 fans. Some F1 fans weren't impressed with the announcement, calling the chapel "cringe." While others were excited at the idea of an F1-themed chapel, so much so they would get married again. Paul Tierney will take charge of the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United. The 42-year-old referee has been appointed to oversee the Wembley decider from the middle for the first time. Raised in Wigan and based in Lancashire, Tierney will take charge of the first Manchester derby FA Cup final meeting. “It’s a real honour for me and the rest of the team, and we’re all thrilled to have been appointed for this game,” Tierney, who will be assisted by Neil Davies and Scott Ledger, said. “To referee the FA Cup Final is one of those things that you strive to do and it’s always been one of my targets but it still takes a bit of time to sink in. “It’s a great fixture to be refereeing too and although there is the common assumption that because I’m from Wigan I must support one of them, I was actually born in Belfast and only moved to Wigan when I was eleven and it’s actually going to be the first time that I’ve refereed a Manchester derby so I’m looking forward to it. “I’ve since been fortunate to referee there and be involved in more games and it’s something that always sticks with you. “Obviously, this game is going to top the lot on a personal level, so I’m looking forward to it and hopefully the final will be a great game.” David Coote has been appointed as the lead VAR for the encounter, with Simon Long his assistant. The final will be held at Wembley on Saturday 3 June.
