LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kanye West and Gap are still at odds after their unsuccessful collaboration, and the matter has now evolved to include a $2 million lawsuit. Gap filed a $2 million lawsuit against the troubled musician for allegedly making unapproved changes to a Los Angeles rental home that the landlord is currently attempting to reclaim.
Gap filed a claim against West, 45, and his Yeezy clothing brand in a LA court last month, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. Gap wants Ye to pay for any losses they might incur in a lawsuit they are facing. Gap believes that Ye and his company are to blame for their current predicament. Gap was sued last year for "damages" to the building at 1360 E 6th St by Art City Center, the company that allegedly owns the building.

Why is Gap suing Kanye West?
Art City Center, which is suing Gap for the cost of rehabilitating the property, claims that throughout the years 2021 and 2022 when Gap was promoting the Yeezy collaboration, the building underwent a ton of prohibited modifications.
The lawsuit claims that the modifications consisted of removing ceiling lights, constructing a wall, knocking down three bathrooms, and adding an outside ramp to the east side parking lot, according to New York Post. Gap is attempting to place the responsibility on West, who made the Yeezy Gap collaboration official in 2020.
The lawsuit against West states, "by making and not repairing or restoring the foregoing alterations of the premises that [West] made without Gap’s participation or approval, [West] breached the strategic agreement and directly and proximately caused Gap to incur expenses to repair and restore the premises," according to New York Post.
Gap, which terminated its partnership with West last year after he made a series of anti-Semitic remarks, demands that the rapper compensate them with $2 million in damages and offset any losses owed to Art City.
