QUEENS, NEW YORK: Richard Sharp, a self-proclaimed member of Chicago-based gang Black Disciples who performs under the name ‘Famous Richard’ was reportedly seen “crying in his jail cell” after his arrest last week. Sharp was caught on May 12 in Jamaica, Queens, after officials accused him of obstructing traffic with another unnamed individual when cops asked him to get out of the street.
The comedian reportedly refused to follow the orders and told officers at the scene, “I'm going to take your pipe,” the New York Post reported. Sharp is known for making similar comments in his TikTok videos, in which he is often seen harassing cops and reaching for their holstered guns. An NYPD spokesperson said that before his recent arrest, Sharp intended to “intimidate officers and caused reasonable expectation of fear of taking the officer's firearm.”

Sharp, aka ‘Famous Richard,’ was arraigned on charges of making a terroristic threat, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, and menacing and disorderly conduct, according to the Daily Mail. A video of his arrest showed the 24-year-old flailing his arms to prevent officials from handcuffing him. All charges related to Sharp’s arrest make an individual eligible for bail as per the law of New York. The TikToker was also eventually released on his own recognizance.
The NYPD first issued a safety alert mentioning Sharp in April after he posted TikTok videos of himself approaching officers and reaching for their guns. He even racially harassed an Asian officer in one video before taking down the clip. Sharp also has 12 other arrests, including three for firearm possessions and a “history of assault on law enforcement,” the publication noted.
‘You were crying in the cells’
In the wake of his arrest, Sharp filmed another video of him being released from a New York City precinct. He once again attempted to harass cops, who then turned the tables on Sharp saying he was “crying in our cells when his phone was taken.” In one video recorded in Times Square, Sharp could be seen telling an officer “I’m King David,” referring to David Barksdale, the founder of the Black Disciples who died in 1947.
Sharp then asked the officer “How you coming, shorty?” who simply replied, “You're the guy that got arrested. You were crying in the cells, I remember that.” Another video possibly filmed in a Midtown Manhattan precinct showed an officer asking Sharp, “What's up son? You was crying in the cells last week, right?” When Sharp asked, “Who told you that?” the officer replied, “I saw you bro.”
Sharp was also seen asking another officer, “I was crying in the cells?” with the latter replying, “You were crying in the cells, big guy.” The drill rapper then said, “Stop lying on my name. You got everybody on TikTok thinking I was really crying.” Despite his arrest, Sharp continued to taunt police officers on social media by saying, “I'm King David. I'm back out here... You all can't catch me.”
‘He’s earned it’
Social media users were quick to respond to the report of Sharp allegedly crying in his jail cell and took to Twitter to share their reactions. “Uh oh... He's going from being a drill rapper to a drilled rapper... Hope he has a nice stay in jail, he's earned it,” one tweeted. “Yep - they all turn out to be cowards…,” another wrote. “Like Mike Tyson said. "Everyone had a plan until they get punched in the face,” a third commented. One joked, “His new rap name???? Ben Over,” while another said, “Regardless of what he did, he will be out in a hot minute.”
