'Dehumanizing moment': Priyanka Chopra reveals Bollywood director insisted on seeing her underwear

LOS ANGELES, CALIFRONIA: Priyanka Chopra reportedly described a "dehumanizing moment" caused by a director while she was still a new actress in Bollywood. The unnamed director reportedly wanted to see her underwear while shooting a scene for a movie.

"It was probably 2002 or 2003. I'm undercover, I'm seducing the guy — obviously that's what girls do when they're undercover. But I'm seducing the guy and you have to take off one piece of clothing [at a time]," Chopra said, adding, "I wanted to layer up [but] the filmmaker was like, 'No, I need to see her underwear. Otherwise, why is anybody coming to watch this movie?'" per The Zoe Report.

'What I contribute is not important'

Recalling the situation, Chopra said, "He didn't say it to me. He said it to the stylist in front of me. It was such a dehumanizing moment. It was a feeling of, 'I'm nothing else outside of how I can be used, my art is not important, what I contribute is not important.'"

The 'Citadel' actress said she left the project two days after that and compensated the production team with her own money after her father insisted. "I just couldn't look at [the director] every day," she said.

'I had people not casting me'

Chopra recently explained why she quit Bollywood, claiming that she felt "pushed into a corner" by the industry as a whole. She said on Dax Shepherd's 'Armchair Expert' podcast in March, "I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break."

It was her brief music music career that opened a path to Hollywood. She reportedly said, "This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies I didn't want to get but I would require to schmooze certain clubs and cliques of people," as per reports.

Chopra added, "It would require groveling and I had worked a long time by then that I didn't feel like I wanted to do it. So when this music thing came I was like 'f**k it I'am going to America."

Chopra went on to star in ABC's 'Quantico as the lead actress from 2015 to 2018. She got married to Nick Jonas in 2018. She landed roles in 'Baywatch', 'Matrix: Revolutions' and 'The White Tiger', per PageSix.
