LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rape accused Cuba Gooding Jr has settled a 2020 lawsuit case just before it was about to go to trial. As per an Associated Press report, the ‘Men of Honor’ actor on Tuesday, June 6, reached a settlement in the suit in which he allegedly raped a woman twice in 2013 inside of his New York City hotel room.
The calendar entry in the official court record read,’ TRIAL OFF’ and ‘Reason for cancellation (on consent) the parties have resolved the matter." The outlet also mentioned that in case the suit went to trial, the woman had to reveal her identity as per law. The ruling in the case was made by Paul A Crotty, as per records. As per her original lawsuit, the unidentified woman alleged that the Academy Award winner initially invited her up to his hotel room and then started to undress himself in front of her.
'He invited her to his hotel room'
The Variety reported when the civil lawsuit was filed in court in August 2020. According to the accused, she was pushed onto the bed and raped twice after Gooding Jr blocked the door. The outlet reported that the victim sued Gooding Jr for an alleged ‘crime of violence’ committed on the basis of gender and was seeking a trial by jury. She didn’t specify the amount of compensatory and punitive damages demanded by her.
At that time, the actor’s attorney, Mark Heller, denied such claims made by the unnamed woman, “The allegations against Cuba Gooding Jr are false and perjurious. There was absolutely no conduct committed in a criminal nature as alleged.” He added, “We expect the case to be dismissed. It was an alleged incident that took place over seven years ago with no criminal complaint at the time.”
'Groped a woman at a rooftop bar'
The most recent sexual assault against Gooding Jr came in June 2019, and that’s when he surrendered himself to the New York Police Department. As per the following allegations, he groped a woman at a rooftop bar in Manhattan, reports People.
The woman said the ‘Radio’ actor was ‘highly intoxicated’ at the time when the incident took place and groped her breasts at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge in Manhattan. What followed were two other allegations to which he plead guilty in 2022.
