LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Allegations against the controversial YouTube star, Colleen Ballinger, are increasing by the day. After being accused of grooming minors, she now faces allegations of being racist. April Korto Quioh, an assistant writer who worked on her Netflix Show, ‘Haters Back Off’, spoke about the comedian up in a blog titled, ‘You Owe Me An Apology’.

Quioh alleged the internet personality promoted racism and had very little moral discrimination regarding showing sexual content in the show. As she noted in the blog, Ballinger often made her staffers uncomfortable with her “biting comments.” She also commented on Miranda’s disturbing relationship with her uncle in the show, which could have been easily inappropriate for a young audience.

'She had a stunning lack of humility'

After meeting Ballinger for the first time, Quioh was left unimpressed. She wrote, "Upon meeting Colleen, my first impression of her was that she was boisterous, opinionated, and had a stunning lack of humility that was unlike anything I had ever seen. Immediately upon entering the writers’ room, I was treated to story after story about her sold-out shows, how obsessed her fans were with her and the lengths they would go to get her attention."

Quioh further stated, "She had a knack for making 'funny', biting comments about the people around her and since we all had her to thank for our jobs, we were forced to just go with it. She saw no issue with commenting on my hair, or my clothes or asking about my personal life. Her lack of boundaries was remarkable," as per BuzzFeed.

In her blog, Quioh spoke about instances when Ballinger was allegedly racist on set, She wrote, “I recall overhearing her once brag that a creator was being ‘canceled’ for saying the n-word (and if you think she went with ‘N-word’ instead of hitting that hard ‘r,’ then you haven’t been paying attention) and that she would never be stupid enough to get caught doing something like that.”

In another instance, Quioh accused Ballinger of labeling the "POC background actors" as "distracting.” The comedian was said to have changed an Asian market to a bodega as she asked for the "Asian s**t" be removed from the set.

Quioh revealed in her blog that Ballinger’s approach to the storyline of Miranda’s relationship with Uncle Jim bordered on sexuality. She wrote, "She (Colleen) often pitched stories in which Miranda and Uncle Jim would be caught in compromising positions or stomach-churning moments of intimacy that could always be easily explained away by a clueless Miranda.”

Quioh continued saying, "It was my responsibility to write down every single one of these pitches, schedule calls to look at mockups of The Daddy Saddle [a prop that Miranda would use to ride on her uncle's back]] that would be featured on the show, and mark points in the script where Colleen thought we could make Uncle Jim even more ‘r***y.’"

However, Quioh felt wrong in encouraging those pitches as Ballinger’s primary audience was mainly minors and children. She wrote, "It all felt deeply wrong – she would show us photos of the packed rows of smiling children who had attended her show the night before, and in the same breath, spend hours trying to think of a way to show Miranda and Uncle Jim all but having actual sex on screen.”

While Quioh didn’t detail the accusations against Ballinger of grooming her fans, the assistant commented elsewhere, "While I cannot speak to the specific allegations against Colleen Ballinger – I stand with every single one of the children and young adults who have bravely shared their experiences in the past few weeks. In the face of attacks from online gaslighters and bizarre, callous, ukulele-soundtracked response videos, they deserve to be supported, heard, and believed."

'Colleen Ballinger grooms her fans'

Allegations against Ballinger started surfacing first in 2020 when another YouTuber, Adam McIntyre, released a video about his friendship with Ballinger when he was between 13 and 16 years of age. After YouTuber KodeeRants brought in the grooming allegations against Ballinger, he alleged, "Colleen Ballinger grooms her fans. Emotionally, grooms her fans for her own benefit. She’s done it to me. I will go on record saying that."
