The actor revealed that when news of Renner's health reached the Avengers cast, they were taken aback by the severity of the situation. Now I’m like, ‘Oh, I could be halfway. More than halfway.’" The realization of the passing of time and the fragility of life has begun to sink in for the actor, leading to a deeper contemplation of his own mortality. “It is a lot of time. If I get there! The reality of, ‘I’m not going to be here forever’ is sinking in.”

"It feels like we got to know each other halfway through our relationship, five, six years ago. In a beautiful way. Once our kids were out of nappies, things became a bit more manageable.”
