Blackpink's Jennie Kim set to join MCU as K-pop superhero after acting debut in 'The Idol'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Marvel Cinematic Universe is growing every day with new movies, series and actors. The MCU has a wide arsenal of comics that can always serve as inspiration for the movies on the big and small screen. This also means more characters, and therefore more celebrities. The franchise is known for hiring some of the biggest names in the world, especially those that are popular with fans.

The latest hire to hit the rumor mill is none other than Jennie Kim. Yes, we are talking about the Blackpink member who rose to worldwide fame as a K-pop singer. In the Marvel comics, there are several brilliant Asian characters who deserve to find their way to the big screen - aside from Shang Chi. From the looks of it, Jennie will bring one of these characters to life!

Which character is Jennie rumored to play?

Luna Snow, or Seol Hee, is a popular Marvel Comics character, and honestly, it might be the perfect role for Jennie, considering that she might have to indulge in method acting. In the comics, Seol Hee formed a K-pop group called '4L1T' whose stage name was Luna. Rumor has it that Jennie will appear in the MCU as part of the first Asian superhero team, which most likely points to the Agents of Atlas team Although Marvel has not mentioned this in the upcoming Phases 5 and 6, they could still play a small role in movies like 'Avengers: Secret Wars' or 'Thunderbolts' before appearing in their own movie. Still, Jennie would be the perfect choice for Luna Snow.

Jennie’s recent work beyond K-pop

Although Jennie is best known around the world as a member of BLACKPINK and as a K-pop star, the possible role of Luna Snow wouldn't be her first acting gig. Most recently, Jennie appeared on the popular and controversial show 'The Idol' as Dyanne. Prior to 'The Idol', Jennie also appeared in 'Village Survival, the Eight', a Korean variety show set in a fictional village. In 2018, Jennie also appeared in a web show called 'Jennie - 'Solo' Diary,' in which she played herself rather than a character. Even though Jennie may not have much experience with fictional movies, she definitely likes being in front of the camera, and what better place to advance than the MCU?
