Another day, another set of pitchers to target for my favorite Major League Baseball prop bets on Saturday.
Today's picks are centered around Chicago Cubs ace Marcus Stroman, who has gotten off to a great start this season and could be undervalued against the Cleveland Guardians.
Let's break down the picks:
Best MLB prop bets today
- Marcus Stroman UNDER 2.5 earned runs allowed (-140)
- Texas Rangers-Houston Astros NRFI (-120)
Marcus Stroman UNDER 2.5 earned runs allowed (-140)
The Cleveland Guardians are one of the worst offenses in baseball this season, ranking 26th in OPS and 27th in runs scored, yet Stroman's earned runs prop is set at 2.5 in this game.
The Cubs ace has allowed more than two earned runs in just two of his 17 starts this season, posting a 9-5 record with a 2.47 ERA.
Stroman did give up six runs (three earned) in his last start, but I think that's moved his line higher than it should be. I think he gets back on track in this matchup.
Texas Rangers-Houston Astros NRFI (-120)
This game is lining up to be a pitcher's duel between Houston's Hunter Brown and Texas' Nathan Eovaldi.
I'm going to take the "No Run First Inning" prop as my best bet in this one, especially since Eovaldi and Brown have done well early in games this season.
In 16 starts, Eovaldi has allowed just three first inning runs, posting a 1.69 ERA in the opening frame. That's better than Brown (3.60 first inning ERA), but both marks are impressive.
Texas does have the No. 1 offense in baseball, but Brown allowed no earned runs in seven innings in his first outing against them this season.
I expect that we see six outs before a run is scored on Saturday.
