Andy Muschietti crowns Ezra Miller as DCU’s Tom Cruise after 'Mission Impossible' actor praised him for ‘The Flash’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Andy Muschietti’s ‘The Flash’ is finally speeding into movie theaters worldwide after suffering a series of setbacks. Inspired by the popular comic book storyline ‘Flashpoint’, the DCEU’s long-anticipated project has gone through an arduous journey to be realized over the course of nearly a decade. The movie was announced back in October 2014 but production delays and Ezra Miller's well-publicized legal troubles pushed its chance to see the light of day on the big screen.

While the netizens are still calling for Miller to be fired, Muschietti has nothing but praise for them. Muschietti was so impressed by the ‘Afterschool’ actor, who uses they/them pronouns, that he apparently crowned them as the DCU’s Tom Cruise. He chose to reveal how they do all the stunts by themself like Cruise, who performed multiple dangerous stunts in his upcoming ‘Mission Impossible 7’.

'Ezra is an incredible actor'

“Ezra is an incredible actor, and I had the chance to work with one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with. Ezra wanted to do all the stunts, and I let them,” Musheitti said, as per a Portuguese Twitter handle.

'The Flash is the kind of movie we need now'

Moreover, it’s interesting to note that Cruise was the first person to vouch for the Scarlet Speedster's movie after witnessing its early release. According to Hollywood Reporter, the ‘Top Gun’ star had a meeting with Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav in late February when he mentioned how great the movie was. Cruise, curiosity piqued, then asked to see the movie and an early copy was sent to his home in Beverly Hills. Cruise was so moved by what he witnessed that he immediately contacted Muschietti to thank him for directing this movie.

Cruise raved over the film, stating that 'The Flash' is "everything you want in a movie" and "this is the kind of movie we need now,” according to an insider. While Cruise is all praises for Miller’s movie, his own ‘Mission Impossible 8’ has landed in major production trouble. The ‘Mission Impossible- Dead Reckoning: Part 2’ has been forced to halt filming due to the ongoing strike by the Writers Guild of America.

The 'Mission: Impossible' franchise director Christopher McQuarrie expressed his displeasure with the never-ending line of delays that have hampered the creation of the two-part film. “It’s unrelenting. Behind each tsunami is another tsunami. We live in a state of 24-hour tsunami awareness. That’s just what we do,” he said in an interview with Empire Magazine.

Muschietti confirms he wouldn’t replace Miller

Earlier this month, Muschietti stated that as long as he is engaged in future iterations of 'The Flash', he would consider recasting Miller despite his multiple legal troubles. "I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did. The other depictions of the character are great, but with this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it. And, as you said, the two Barrys — it feels like a character that was made for them,” he said in a separate interview, according to Variety.
