The wife of Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin has claimed they are ready to leave the club in search of regular first-team football.

Lunin joined Madrid in the summer of 2018 and, after a handful of loans, has been the team's backup goalkeeper since 2020.

Thibaut Courtois' serious injury during the summer appeared to have opened the door for Lunin to enjoy some regular minutes, but Madrid instead opted to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea and keep the 24-year-old on the bench.

Kepa has now picked up an injury of his own which is expected to keep him out of action for the next few weeks, giving Lunin the chance to add to his grand total of 20 appearances for Madrid.

During an Instagram Q&A, Lunin's wife, Anastasia, confessed the goalkeeper would be ready to leave the club if the offer of regular minutes arrived.

"If there is a club that allows him to play, I think that we will go," she wrote. "If he is going to play, then of course we are ready to move."

Lunin has entered the final year of his contract in Madrid and will soon be forced into a decision on his future.

Courtois is expected to reclaim his spot as Madrid's starting goalkeeper when he returns from injury - perhaps at the end of the current season but likely in time for next year - while the La Liga giants will also have to decide whether to keep Kepa following his loan.

There is no option to buy Kepa permanently as part of Madrid's agreement with Chelsea but the Blues are keen to part ways with the Spain international, who will also have just one year remaining on his contract at the end of the campaign.
